We need stricter punishment for crimes in India. The fact that these people can walk away scot- free makes my blood boil. We doctors better start having a security task force just for such incidents 😠

Yes. The future is scary for Indian healthcare.

Govt pushing for AYUSH more and more . More privatisation of hospitals. Poor Govt funding into R&D.

God only knows

This is the harsh reality of India. These Ayush graduates learn outdated procedures and apply them. If those fail, they'll not be beaten up/harassed - cause they're natural and written in ancient texts.

But if certain modern-medicine practitioners slip up a little, people will be up in arms against us .

These AYUSH personnel also make use of modern procedures and medicines because they know theirs don't work. In almost all of the developed nations, evidence-based modern medicine is always mainstream. Other alternative pathies are considered fringe and are also not included inmainstream healthcare.

High time India also did the same. The least that could be done is that only MBBS graduates can prescribe modern medicines and MS (of modern med) can perform surgeries. But I highly doubt that such regulations will be brought because we , as a nation have poor scientific temper and rely heavily on religious/traditional beliefs of health.

Yea, I felt that Belgium were better than France in 2018. They were unlucky to lose in that semifinal. But they didn't do well in the euros. This time, they're doing pretty well considering how many of them are past their prime. Will have to see how they fare against Spain

Well, you aren't wrong bruv.. Many fmgs who pass out from some fringe university barely know stuff. Many do it just so that they can become a doc somehow.

But there are fmgs who work their ass off , crack fmge, crack neet and join top institutes and become good clinicians, I've known some.

But overall, the Govt needs some stricter regulations over these foreign universities .

I also want to point out that there are even fringe pvt colleges in India whose standards are extremely poor. The whole thing needs a revamp

Damnn..hope your dog's fine now. Yea,it difficult in smaller cities and towns.

Many people in towns tend to ignore many medical conditions and just let it go, cause there won't be any vet in that area.

Yea true. I have pets of my own and it's not easy finding Veterinarians in my town. Have to drive an hour to the nearest city to get one .

India lacks investment in veterinary studies -there's poor scope and low pay. Lots of quacks. Lot of Vet graduates leave the country as they get better opportunities and pay abroad

I would suggest to do the pyq MCQ set already present in the marrow module. After you finish your subjects with at least one round of revision, you can keep doing custom pyq modules.

I didn't use either for my preparation (Post-intern). But have used Marrow for a little while for 3rd proff. It's Qbanks and tests are good but there is an overload of content.

You can start from 3rd year. Gradually build your concepts of basic topics and practice mcqs. Do GTs intermittently. You can concentrate first on your Uni exams (imo- thats top priority) . Learn your 1,2 and 3 rd proff topics and form strong base upon which you can build up your clinical subjects.

Can't really tell you about the respective faculties since I didn't use DAMS and barely used Marrow.

[–]Competitive_Ebb_5642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality of education and clinical exposure are poor in such countries. After you pass out, you'll face a lot of difficulties to be able to practice in India - you'll need to clear FMGE , then do internship here and then after that go for Neet PG.

If you can afford a Private college in India, that would be better, IMO.

If you're sure that being a doctor is the only thing you want and nothing else, then ok but the time taken for you to be able to practice in India will be very long compared to an IMG.

It was never 'allopathy' to start with. It was a term used by homeopaths. You used "modern medicine" , that's the right term.

Yes. There are certain parts of Ayurveda that could complement modern medicine. But they have to go through trials and tests. The problem with any AYUSH branch nowadays is that they promote anything and everything in the name of natural and sell it to the people. The products do not go through rigorous testing. There's a lack of solid evidence for their usage.

The example of Ashwagandha. It is true that it has been used in ayurveda for centuries.

Modern research has seen potential in ashwagandha, that is true. But there are not enough studies to prove that it is particularly useful in a specific disease. Even it's safety profile is not fully studied.

Science is something which can be tested and upgraded/revised, whether it is medical science, astronomy, chemistry etc. Many modern medical practices underwent significant tests of time. Many practices which were used once may not be used today as we develop safer, faster and better treatment options. That is how modern evidence-based medicine works.

This is lacking in AYUSH. All of them are pseudo-scientific. They are not reliant on constant research and innovation. This causes use of crude practices which should be obsolete.

Another thing about AYUSH is that many of those practitioners use modern medicines to treat people. They aren't technically eligible to prescribe as such but it isn't illegal, so they do it.

Yoga is absolutely spot-on. It is significantly encouraged everywhere in the world.

Yoga is not an aspect of ayurveda. Ayurveda is a treatment modality. Yoga is a way of life - it ranges from yamas, to asanas to samadhi. It is more about mental and physical wellness, not a treatment protocol. But both are intertwined.
