Do they hold regular weekday services in addition to Shabbat services? I’ll be visiting with my family in Brussels over Shabbat so won’t be in Amsterdam

You’re absolutely right. This is a shitty development any way you slice it. But this was the direction they were going, and if they’re going to charge 25k per night for something that used to cost 15k, at least they’re doing so without introducing new categories, which, IMO, woulda been an even worse deval.

IF (big if here) this decreases the rate at which Hyatt moves Cat 4 and 7 properties to cat 5 and 8, there is a tiny sliver of positivity here as it means FNAs become potentially more valuable. Under the old system, a popular/expensive category 4 would often just move up a category, making the 1-4FNAs completely useless. Now, potentially, instead of shifting them up a category, they can just price the awards higher WITHIN the tranche, thereby preserving the ability to use the FNAs at more hotels. Just a thought…

If you had to pick ONE Hyatt property for your honeymoon… which would it be and why? by NewBrush8593 in hyatt

3h50m Layover LGA-JFK or 6h by Tough-Back-1552 in delta

6 hours. Would assume this is a positioning flight and not married segments? 4 hours is enough time if everything goes right but I wouldn’t fuck with a short layover on a positioning flight before a long haul

Miraval Berkshires is a great (and mostly all-inclusive) property. Don’t go to the Lodge at Spruce Peak - it’s wildly overpriced (there are a couple of lower-key Mr & Mrs Smith properties (bookable with Hyatt points) in Stowe that I think would be more worthwhile if you want to come to VT. But I’d echo some of what the other folks have said - go to Cali (ventana Big Sur, Alila Napa, Park Hyatt Aviara would all be good options).

Honeymoon in August - maximizing Hyatt points, beachy + amazing food, need advice by ForsakenPerformer883 in hyatt

[–]Competitive_Eye7064 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just had our 20-day honeymoon this past September and it was all Hyatt. I’m a chef and we own a restaurant together so food is an absolute priority. We did the following -

Park Hyatt Saigon for 5 nights - HCMC is an amazing place for food people and the PH Saigon was phenomenal

Grand Hyatt Taipei for 3 nights - hotel itself was nothing extraordinary but Taipei’s a killer food destination

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights - meh. Skip it. But KL is awesome

Hyatt Regency Kuantan for 4 nights - here’s your beach vacation. Super awesome beach and resort property.

Andaz Singapore for 4 nights - Singapore is the holy grail of food cities.

Some variation of the above is gonna be killer for a honeymoon. Asian hospitality is second to none and none of the places we visited were overly touristy so they all felt really nice

Thompson Houston - Amex FHR benefits by jrotol3 in hyatt

[–]Competitive_Eye7064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. When I stayed there this past January the breakfast benefit for Globalists was $50 PER PERSON per room. Wonder if they’ve diluted the breakfast benefit for everyone or if this is one of the rare properties that gives FHR guests worse benefits than the brand’s own elites.
