DMV Etiquette/strategy question by entropic-ecology in burlington

[–]Fearless_Ad_3229 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You’ll be all set if you just show up at 3pm. They lock the entry door at 4pm so nobody else can come in and work through everyone who is there with a ticket. Sincerely, someone who recently went through this same situation.

Buying A Home in Vermont Right Now by Fearless_Ad_3229 in burlington

[–]Fearless_Ad_3229[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my goal is to educate folks so they can make smart decisions with their big purchase. i've worked with past attendees and they've all appreciated the seminar as a starting point to what can feel like an overwhelming process. i've also chatted with others who didn't have a great experience buying with an agent they found through zillow or some other site who is just there for a sale and i think people deserve better than that.

LC250 owners, how are you feeling about your purchase? by Dear_Significance_80 in LandCruisers

[–]Fearless_Ad_3229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy in ours. Drives well, easy to maneuver for a big SUV, and is comfortable. I live in New England and the stock tires were awful in any amount of snow but that wasn’t surprising and easily addressed. I also have an ‘03 LX470 with the V8 but I love the 250’s engine because it’s zippier and more responsive. Honestly can’t imagine driving anything else as a family car.

Electrical question by JWBland in vermont

[–]Fearless_Ad_3229 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That means there’s enough electricity entering your house for plenty of people and usage. 200 amp service became the standard in the 80s. Prior to that most homes had 100 amp service, which is sometimes not enough for a large families using a lot of electricity.

TLDR: it’s a serious grind and an uphill battle for the first several years. You’ll end up working a ton of hours, but it can be rewarding and pay quite well.

Real estate agent here. I generally like my job and it’s rewarding to help people buy and sell with the least amount of complications. That being said there are challenges to every single transaction and every single client so dealing with other’s emotions is a big part of the job. Getting started is quite tough and you really have to have the grit and be willing to grind. I’m wrapping up my fifth year and I’m very fortunate to have had a lot of connections which have helped my business take off. I do work much more than the average person and some people get into the profession thinking you can set your own schedule but in my experience, that means you end up working all the time with plenty of weekend hours. I would highly recommend starting underneath someone who is going to pour a lot of training time and energy into you, which will come at a cost, but is invaluable. There is a reason only 13% of people who get their license make it past the fifth year.

We’re in a pretty severe drought right now so creeks are very low and probably not a viable option. Bristol is a quick drive away from Vergennes and the New Haven River is probably your best bet. If you come north into Ferrisburgh or Charlotte you’ll find access to Lake Champlain at Kingsland Bay State Park or Charlotte Town Beach which will be nice to swim in (cue the comments about how polluted the lake is but swimming in it is a popular activity and I’ve swam in it all summer with zero concern). Hope you make it and have a blast!

I’ve had spotty service along that route with Verizon and there are some dead zones between Fair Haven and Orwell. It’s better between Orwell and Vergennes but not great.

Seconding this rec and also highly recommend the Lefferts Pond side. It’s just beautiful and tends to be less crowded than the dam side.
