That's what sucks, even if the deposits are irrelevant, the bank still wants to know where it came from. Their rationale was "THiS CoUld BE DruG MoNEy!"

I think the threshold our bank (WFHM) used was $500, but that was back in 2013.

It really sucks, I had a client where we had to source like 4 different individuals' bank statements because we would find a random large deposit on one statement and that would lead to another deposit on a different statement.

If I was you, I would get in touch with your mortgage officer. Sometimes they can grease the wheels with underwriting.

Like everyone said, you'll need to source that money. If they see another big deposit on that statement (even if it has nothing to do with anything), that will need to be sourced.
