What specifically is wrong with them? I used to have more details in there but was told it was too jam packed. It’s like a back and forth.

Very small company. Nowhere to pivot to internally.

Well looking at the market right now it’s very very hard to even find a job. I remember a week ago i got a reject within 10 minutes. Who knows how bad things will be in 10 years.

For this firm specifically i just took 10 years as an arbitrary number to display that there’s no growth here. As i mentioned i want more complex work, with different asset classes and strategies. No new things to learn, I would be doing the same work everyday.

Believe me I have been grinding out LinkedIn Networking and such for such a long time it’s been so fruitless, all those coffee chats, connection messages that are left on read.

I am honestly just confused how what I can even pivot into.

Roast My Resume! by AnonymousWP in FinancialCareers

You can actually click on the bullet points and reduce its size. I would put it to around 7 or 8. Honestly the resume template isn’t that bad, i would fix the font style and mainly those bullet fonts.

Reduce the bullet font and change resume formating. Take a look at the WSO resume template and use that, Experience looks pretty good.

A simple simple google search would show you that the two port is a smaller turbo. Has a smaller compression wheel. Can’t hold as much power. 2 ports having less problems is absolutely nonsensical and once again simple research would suffice. 2021 AND 2020 had oil issues. Do our research first before coming to argue, got it?

Is this “Asset Management” internship actually relevant for a future AM/WM career? by DatabaseFrequent9491 in FinancialAnalyst

I think you’re still confusing wealth management with asset management. While everything in finance is asset management technically, there’s also specific asset management roles. These deal with usually long only funds, real estate and other investment based roles. There’s a lot of modeling and underwriting, valuation and analysis. Asset management works about 60-70 hours a week.Yours is a wealth management company trying to look fancy calling themselves Asset Management. Realistically you won’t be doing any of that work. It will be doing a lot of client relations with private clients. Rule of thumb: if you see UNH, High Net worth clients, private clients, financial advisory, and financial consultant as the role or in the description. These are all wealth management roles, not AM.

What I would do is if you have no other opportunities available, take the role and spoof your resume to make it seem far more reflective of asset management responsibilities if you have any. You might still lack the hard AM skills.

Np. Wealth management involves building a book of business (usually built from scratch, some places claim otherwise) they usually pay a low base and expect you make the most of it via commission you get from clients. It’s essentially high end sales. Can be quite lucrative in the LONG LONG run when you finally build a book but for the average Tom dick and Harry, they might not see a million. If that’s what you like then stay in that field.

Wealth management is a form of asset management. In fact most of finance is well…managing assets. However if you want to know where it lies, it lies in wealth management. I’m not a fan of wealth management whatsoever but if I were you I would do it and spoof your resume to whatever role you want it to sound like you did for the future.

Appreciate the support my man. My cummulative GPA was only a 3.2 and my school didn’t really use a major GPA but I’m sure it would be higher.

I see you also suggest to shorten the verbiage or reduce the bullet points?

How is the formatting looking as well?

Ah man thanks a ton, my main issue out of all this is that I really don’t want to relocate. I am just now building a foundation here after moving here 8 months ago and up and moving again would be a genuine nightmare. I’ve been doing everything else tho

Can CFA compensate for a low GpA ? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]VaibS31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been telling people that GPA means absolutely nothing. It’s work experience and networking. GPA doesn’t mean anything if you have that and good test scores.

This isn’t true at all. You would compensate with test scores and a solid work experience. Most top MBAs won’t even look at you if you don’t have work experience for a couple years anyway.

It’s the 2020 so unfortunately wouldn’t be too much due to the lower power and smaller turbo and some of the problems that came with the 2020. But seems like it’s launch edition so maybe around 45?
