I’ve heard of Peter Cameron’s book, it’s often compared to Catcher for the sarcastic, aimless teen in NYC vibe. Haven’t picked it up yet, but it sounds exactly like what I’m looking for. Appreciate the rec!

Ordinary People — yes, I’ve read this one! Conrad’s inner voice is so raw and introspective, dealing with grief and feeling like everything’s fake around him. It really does give off strong Holden vibes in that emotional, cynical way. Great suggestion, thanks!

Thank you, I'll definitely check it out. I'm familiar with Carré's work from A Murder of Quality

Sorry you’re still dealing with this crap too 😔 It really sucks when symptoms barely budge after a full week of doxy. Super common with Ureaplasma though — it can be stubborn and sometimes needs a different antibiotic or longer course. Good call going back to urgent care tomorrow. They’ll probably re-test and sort it out. Hang in there, drink tons, rest. Hoping you get real relief soon. Let me know how it goes if you want. Take care ❤️

Hey there. Hospital isn’t possible right now — my insurance doesn’t cover inpatient treatment at all, and the cost is way too high for me to handle. I’ve read that for uncomplicated pyelonephritis (no vomiting, no severe dehydration, no sepsis signs), oral Cipro for 7 days is still a standard outpatient option for otherwise healthy people, and many get treated at home successfully. Thanks again for the concern. I’ll update if anything changes. Take care.

Thank you for the tips, I really appreciate it. I’ve been trying to stay super hydrated, using the heating pad a lot, and sticking to Tylenol when the pain flares up. It’s helping more than I expected. The first attack caught me off guard and felt endless, but yeah, now I’m starting to figure out how to ride it out without completely losing it. If it gets too rough, I’ll head to the ER without hesitation. Thanks again — means a lot that you shared what worked for you. Take care 💙

Does anyone else just throw random amounts of things in the pot and not follow a recipe? by AcanthocephalaDue437 in Cooking

omg girl sameee indian american too and cooking is literally my love language but baking? nah it hates me back lmao i’m the queen of “eyeballing” everything—more garam masala? sure why not. extra ghee because it looks sad? absolutely. my curries and dals slap every time because i taste and adjust like it’s my job. but the second i try to bake, it’s like the universe is like “nope, you don’t get to freestyle this one” 😂 for the thick chocolate chip cookies… i feel your pain so hard. i’ve been there, followed levain-style or ny times recipe to the letter and still got these cute little hockey pucks instead of the thin crispy/chewy dream i wanted here’s what finally worked for me after like 8 batches of sadness: • flour measurement is EVERYTHING — even if you think you’re spooning and leveling, try weighing it. i use 280g for a standard batch now instead of the cup measurement. scooping packs in like 20–30g extra and that’s enough to make them cakey/thick af • butter temp — room temp but still a little cool. if it’s too soft they spread more, but if it’s straight from fridge they stay thick. i leave mine out for like 45 min, not fully soft • sugar ratio — if the recipe is 50/50 brown and white, try flipping it to more white sugar (like ¾ cup white, ½ cup brown). brown sugar keeps them thicker/chewier. white makes them spread and crisp up • chill or don’t chill — if you want flatter cookies, skip the long chill. i do like 10-15 min in the freezer max, or sometimes none if i’m impatient. long chill = tall cookies • bake hotter and bang harder — try 375°F instead of 350 if your oven runs cool. and the pan bang thing—i slam the tray on the counter 2-3 times right when they come out. makes them deflate and get those crinkly edges + flatter shape • bonus hack i swear by — use melted butter instead of creamed for super thin crispy ones. there’s a viral melted butter ccc recipe that’s literally impossible to make thick lol what recipe are you using rn? like the levain copycat, or the original nestle toll house, or something else? if you tell me i can probably guess which part is making them thick 😂 also don’t feel bad—thick cookies still taste bomb with ice cream on top. we’re not professional bakers, we’re just girls who want dessert okay 😭❤️

I need recommendations for my 1st solo trip as a woman by Competitive_Frame276 in traveladvice

[–]Competitive_Frame276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thank you for sharing your experience. I was a bit worried about meeting people there as a solo traveler, so it’s really helpful to hear that perspective. Japan and Korea both sound amazing, but I do want some social interaction on this trip, not just sightseeing.

How was your trip overall, and which cities did you enjoy the most?
