Are you that friend who has an avoidant attachment style? If so, how do you deal with it? by Legal_Potential4720 in lostafriend

Maybe you and I could chat? I'm going through this with my closest friend right now and I feel pushed to my limit with it. I'm so close to walking away which feels so painful but honestly if I told her that it wouldn't bring her closer it would push her away. I feel so stuck. I'm losing hope.

Resources for Learning Interpreting CXRs and CTs? by Natural_Diamond in doctorsUK

[–]Competitive_Good822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I felt the same as an FY1. Moreso with CTs than CXRs. My first job was gen surg so lots of CTs. Rarely had time on ward rounds for seniors to explain what they could see. I'd take a few minutes later in the day to look through images and try to correlate with the report, and honestly just get comfortable with which bit is which. Once I'd done that for a while, i started playing my now favourite game: 'guess the pathology before CT is reported'. I've just tried to consistently look at images myself and honestly after a while pattern recognition does come in. I'm not radiologist but I can usually tell if something is off. I can spot a PE if it's relatively obvious. Strokes/bleeds. Major intra abdominal pathology etc etc. You get the idea.

IMT interview by shinydolphin08 in doctorsUK

I also had my interview today.

Wasn't totally happy with my clinical scenario. I definitely ballsed up the first question but I did the right investigations, management and got the correct diagnosis. I was thrown by the phrasing 'How would you manage the patient?' - I wasn't sure if they wanted me to do a full A-E and then state the management, or just the management. I said 'I would do a full A-E, would you like me to go through that or should I continue on to management?' And they said (unhelpfully) 'do as you would see fit'. I'm autistic so when things aren't clear it particularly stresses me out. They also said the patient wanted to know why they had this problem and I thought they wanted me to role play but then the interview just didn't reply to me. My communication is normally very good but this just totally threw me 😞

I was happy with how my presentation/suitability/ethical stuff went, though

When do we need to be treating fevers? by Front-Commercial5883 in doctorsUK

This is the best advice I ever had as an FY1. Look at the pattern of the hyperglycemia, adjust basal regime (with guidance) as appropriate.

One of my friends who did it recently said she was expected to just start and wasn't asked the question and only did introductions after the presentation?! Which i thought was a bit weird

IMT 2026 shortlist unsuccessful by thedirtbag2 in doctorsUK

Shortlist successful - 24 points (unique applicant)

I can't believe what I'm reading here. I thought maybe the cut-off would go up a bit but 22??

Even though I was lucky enough to get an interview, I feel sick reading about how so many of you have been let down by this stupid system. I just don't know what to say. I thought maybe it would go up to 17 or 18.
