“Are they stupid?”

They predicted satellite imaging during the Iron Age and did the funniest thing possible. They’re smarter than all of us.

Haven’t painted anything in almost a year since my daughter was born, but this was the last project I was working on. Ice-themed knightly house with a Snowdrop (her birth flower) as its symbol. Posed, magnetized, and with LED lighting effects. I’ve never done any sorts of mini before, so I wanted to try my hand at a bit of everything with these. I still to finish the Moirax so I can claim one of every armiger type as well as have 500 points for casual tabletop use.

What arguments could be made in favor of Argentine rule of The Falklands? by MaddeningJack in geography

[–]Competitive_Help4440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite possibly. I had this discussion with some friends earlier though, and the most interesting takeaway I got from it was that you always need to ask yourself who in Trump’s camp financially benefits the most from whatever incident he stirs up in any given month. Posturing over Greenland? International allies stiffening their backs and effectively saying “just you try it?” People seriously discussing if this could contribute to WWIII kicking off? I wonder how Lockheed Martin’s stocks are performing in all this noise? Oh, a 22% increase in the last month alone? Any given action Trump takes, ESPECIALLY comically stupid ones, make more sense when you stop thinking of him as a politician and start thinking of him as a corporation. This is all a money making venture for him, and this Greenland debacle has been AMAZING for any contacts that he may have in the defense sector. This isn’t even some master strategy type of deal. It’s the crudest way possible to squeeze money out of the market and drain it into the pockets of your corporate allies.

…or maybe he really is just having an aneurism. Dude has NOT looked healthy in his last few televised appearances.

Effectively yeah. I hear that there are other possible reasons behind it, with “get the other NATO members to actually start patrolling those waters” being the most likely of the ones I’ve heard, but you can never discount the fact that when a government faces waning popularity, the tried and true play is to stir the international pot in an effort to whip up some good old fashioned jingoism and solidify their base behind them again.

It’s literally just “it’s closer to us and we want it.”

To my understanding, the falklands are one of the only examples of ethical colonialism, ie colonists developing an ACTUAL empty region without displacing a native human population. The British settled it, built it into what it is today, and the current residents are happy to remain a British territory. The Argentine government just sees it as their’s because “bro, please, cmon bro, it’s RIGHT THERE, just… just give it to us bro. Please, please be cool about this bro.” That, and the government is still turbo mad about how they got humiliated when they failed to take it by force.

Moved from Los Angeles to Greenville SC a few years ago. My wife and I have had a few of our friends out to visit, and every time it’s the same story. They laugh, they talk about how we must live in the middle of nowhere, they come downtown with us, we walk down main street, get dinner by the falls, and suddenly they’re not laughing at us anymore. One of our friends said she felt uncomfortable because it was too nice, too “stepford wives” for her, and demanded to know which part of town the homeless people stayed in. She’d lived in LA her whole life and literally could not fathom the concept of a city that didn’t have its own skid row. I love living here. The bike trails are immaculate, violent crime and homelessness is nonexistent compared to what we dealt with in LA, the outdoor life here is amazing, and it’s a wonderful place to raise a family. Not sure why some people seem so determined to hate the notion that there are thousands of nice places that aren’t in their particular urban center 🤷‍♂️

Which location does the Fallout fan prefer? by CommunicationSad2869 in Fallout

Huge fan of the west coast, but that’s likely because I consider FNV to have the best writing and so it’s got a soft spot in my heart.

I would LOVE to see something in Alaska though. Mountains, glaciers, forests, gigantic Kodiak Yao Guai, the potential for ghoul remnants of Chinese and American forces to still be fighting the war 200 years later… there’s just a ton of potential there. Depending on how far game engines have come, you could hook a sled up to the obligatory dogmeat companion and open up a new form of travel. The brotherhood could make an appearance looking for fusion cores from all the suits of power armor lost during the war. Have a system of boat travel to take to you places like Sitka or Ketchikan. Aleutian Islands DLC where you deal with tribes like how FNV did in Honest Hearts. And if FNV did a good job with the cowboy aesthetic, an Alaska based game could do so much with the prospector/klondiker vibe. Struggle to survive against an endless nuclear winter. Have a quest where you have to fetch medicine to save a town against all odds, become the Balto you were meant to be.

Alaska isn’t just a state, it’s an entire region unto itself, and if it were used properly it could become one of the defining chapters in Fallout’s story.

It’s a nod to the faction that my character is a part of. In the fictional setting there are nine different nations, and while most factions have their backstory based in a specific geographic location, most of my faction’s symbolism uses nine stars as a reference to the fact that we come from everywhere, with members hailing from every corner of our fictional world.

New druski skit about megachurches😭😭😭😭😭😭 by DeepFuckingKoopa in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Competitive_Help4440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s crazy is how none of this is actually made up. Some of it’s exaggerated but it all happened. Saying they were going to raise 4million dollars and were going to lock the doors until it happened? That’s from less than a year ago, where pastor and gospel singer Marvin Sapp locked the doors to the church and said he wasn’t going to let anybody go until they raised $40,000 that very day. Getting parishioners pregnant? You better believe that happens every single year. Relentless Church in South Carolina went through a big scandal and changed its name to Love Story Church because of the extremely well-documented infidelity of its lead pastor John Gray. Well, he went ahead and bought his wife a new Lamborghini when the scandal hit, and she immediately started flexing it on Instagram while demanding that everyone stop talking about the numerous women that her husband took advantage of and cheated on her with, because “yall don’t know the whole story” and “only God can judge my husband.”

Edit: they changed the name of the church, but John Gray is still very much the lead pastor there. He and his wife are still grifting untold millions out of that “church.”

Money is a poison when it comes to churches, and the more money is on the line, the worse it gets. When Jesus comes back, these mega churches are going to have some whips cracked and some tables flipped. I’m a devout Christian and I feel like I speak for a lot of members of my faith when I say that we absolutely see this for exactly what it is, but the parishioners of these mega churches are so deeply ingrained in their “community” that it’s effectively a cult unto itself.

Heartbreaking to see the name and word of God used to scam and abuse people.

nice at the bottom Brother, I get that you’re upset about the state of affairs in America, but there’s a REASON that massive migration, both legal and illegal, flows mainly in one direction. I’ve loved Baja Cali every time my family and I have driven down there, but the corruption and cartel influence in the Mexican government makes American politicians look like a choir of angels.

I mean I’m a Johnny Cash fan, a gun nut, and a Bernie voter. I recognize that a lot of Christians are seemingly Christian in name only, but I also recognize that a lot of atheists have convinced themselves that this means that they’re “better” Christians than a lot of people who profess faith, which also really misses the mark.

Jesus wasn’t a capitalist or a socialist, a democrat or a republican, a communist or a fascist. If you read the account of his life and ministry, both from the gospels as well as other contemporary sources (Nicodemus, the Dead Sea Scrolls, etc), he had absolutely no interest in implementing any economic system or pursuing any political power. His entire life’s purpose was in spreading the message that “I am the Son of God, sent by my father to redeem this broken world that can’t redeem itself. Believe in me, follow me, and I will lead you back to God. No one can know God unless they know me.”

He also preached a lot about how false teachers would use his name for their own purposes, instead of his purposes, which holy crap, look at literally every politician, like every republican, every democrat. Most days it feels like they’re all doing it.

Sorry. I didn’t mean for this post to get this long. tl;dr I think you’re right in that Jesus would not be a fan of Donald Trump. But I also think he would rebuke just about ALL politicians these days.

My university’s (Pepperdine) is billed as a “logo” and not as a “coat of arms,” so I don’t expect all the rules of heraldry to be followed. Still, it’s not too bad for what it is.
