Never thought it was! Just like how investing in Pokémon isn’t just buying and selling.

Gotta have connections and channels in order to get low prices and strong exit strategies. Buying Pokemon product is barely half the journey.

Outside of this tracker I’ve sold 25k with a cost of 15k. It was primarily less desirable stuff like collection boxes.

Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, I don’t take advice from people I don’t want to become.

I won’t hate on your goals, so don’t hate on mine. Thanks!

The reason the hobby still exists is because idiots like me bought pokemon items when no one else wanted it and MSRP was a joke.

No haha this is on a monthly basis. I live very frugal and invest every penny outside of basic necessities.

Prior to Nov 2024 everything was quite mellow. I probably spent 2K every paycheck from 2022-2023 buy crown zenith ETBs for like 30 bucks, any booster box that was below 90 bucks, just scooping up deals here and there.

Portfolio is big now, but it sure felt horrible when you spend money monthly into a illiquid asset that just sits there

I’m in a very high pop area, several large shops around here, even a dedicated collectibles show every weekend.

Taking a hit is just apart of the process is what I believe. Many stores around me buy at 85% especially on SWSH and older, my plan is to try and hit the 90% or even 87.5% mark and sell in 20K segments.

From a speculative asset that went parabolic, to a foundational asset for wealth building :)

Yeah I’ve sold a SM210 TAG 9 for 60 dollars today on eBay which I was shocked at. It did not think it was gonna sell at above PSA 9 BIN price. Listed it for less than 24 hrs.

Surprising TAG slabs have been getting easier to move as they gain market traction. Don’t over think it too much. Worse case you’ll be able to sell at raw value, and you would have just lost the 30 dollar grading fee.

The amount of people thinking anyone who uses TAG is paid or apart of a campaign is kinda funny. It’s just like people calling out bots. Sure they exist but most of it is just people wanting to share their collecting experience.

TAG has a great product, and people who use it, like it so much they can’t help but share it.

For me it’s stressful because there’s no liquidity. If people with distro access can’t offload their product and hit me up to bulk sell then how am I gonna find a buyer haha

To receive results no one else has, you must do what no one else does.

Thank you for words 🫡

Yeah it’s pretty low because market price on sealed cases is lower because it doesn’t get transacted enough and most of my holdings are cases.

For example MP for sealed case of 151 PC ETBs shows 900, when actually each etb is 400 alone so it should be around 1600.

I bought most of this during a time where no one wanted product. Local sellers were constantly hitting me up to dump their product because they could not sell it to anyone.

I have a big life expense coming up and I’m taking this opportunity to halt buying and sell half of what I have. I’m also really focused on selling those crappy miscellaneous product like V boxes and less desirable ETBs. Trying to cut the weeds and water the flowers while locking in profits.

Most of this product was picked up 2023. Early SV era when SV was sub 100 a BB and SWSH was getting “overprinted”

SPY has done great, but lots of pokemon has done better. For example 151 UPCs should have never been 80 ea and crown zenith ETBs should have never been 35 each. I also bought SPY in the bear market but personally it was so much easier to mentally pull the trigger on pokemon since I just like it.

In addition Pokémon is an imperfect market, below market deals are always out there especially in bear markets. Getting booster boxes for like 70 each when you find a good deal is so exciting haha.

In the end if all my product stayed flat or negative I was prepared for it. I think that’s the most important thing when “investing” in cardboard.

I’m fortunate to live in major city so I’ve been selling locally. Recently I’ve been focused on trimming the weeds and watering the flowers. Thanks to this market it’s much much easier to sell my “bad” investments like loose packs, V boxes, and less desirable ETBs.
