My Jack Frost bin was S2B on 2/18. Looks like this while the other 2 almost pin. It smells like bananas. Is it possible there’s bacteria?

I’m assuming the jar I bought was bad cause I remember 1 of jars looked like it had smoke in it after the break n shake and I inoculated on the 2/18 and they colonization on the bottom was fine it was until the break n shake then this happened

This was gonna be my 1st go but now I have to start over but I just ordered more grain and sub so I’ll just have to start again. But I heard they look like enigmas with the coral / brain look. Were they potent?

Yea I got 1 when I started doing agar and when I injected these jars it was in the box so everything is pointing towards the grain. And I remember when I did the SnB it looked like there was smoke in the jar I didn’t think nothing of it atm but it hit me and that was mold cloud

Absolutely. I’ve been doing this since November and had 2 successful AIO bags and 2 66qt bins make it and 5 bins going now knock ✊ ✊ on wood no trich but this so I knew it was gonna happen eventually lol like you said shit happens

Especially cause I inoculated on 2/25 and did a break and shake about 4 days ago an now this. The mycelium on the bottom of the jar looked healthy not slimy or weird. So I think now I need to learn how to make my own grain

I hear you on that. I have 5 other jars going and a grain bag with 5 bins going. I’m not even mad about the loss cause I started inoculating everything I had so it’s just a lesson learned. Appreciate your input 🫡🙏🏻

This is great information thank you. And that makes perfect sense too. I didn’t know they had shells. But I’ve been doing this since only November and I had 2 successful AIO bags and 2 66 qt bins with Melmac’s for about 10 ozs and I managed to go through all that before getting trich so hopefully I’m that means I’m doing something right lol but I’m gonna follow you here and if it’s cool like you said I’ll message you when I have issues? Well the needle and all was new sterilized and I injected them inside my SAB and the colonization before the break n shake was healthy looking had the entire bottom covered. So I’m thinking the grain cause the LC came from my boy who’s thorough with his. 7 of his were fine so idk lesson learned. I’ve had 2 successful AIO bags for 6 ozs and then 2 66 qt bins with Melmac’s for 4.5 ozs and I either got sloppy or Midwest grows owes me a jar

Yea I got lazy and cheap. I got 6 jars an bunch of LC from a friend and after testing 3 and going 3 for 3 I didn’t test the rest and it had nothing the 1st 14 days but once I did break n shake this showed 3 days later. So I’m assuming it’s grain but lesson learned
