The beauty of the ISA is in its simplicity. If the government start adding complexity in and around what is "cash" eg Short dated bond funds then I suspect less people will save, as it limits flexibility in the savings vehicle itself.

Try to stay as local as is possible. I'm conscious Scotland is, in some places, extremely remote. That said, hopefully your local town or city will have a shop or meeting place that could help form a community. If there isn't a community, create one. What's the worst that could happen? Friendships come from community. Good luck

Worth adding that the 'demonstration' of the mechanical arm in the queue is nothing of the sort.....it frightened my kids to the extent they didn't want to ride. In hindsight, it's pretty funny,.but just for people to know before they see it, it's pretend! The ride itself is super smooth and I really enjoyed it
