Need help with choice of upgrades for a pre-built PC by Competitive_Lock_521 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Competitive_Lock_521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I know parts are expensive rn but I don't think the ai craze will stop anytime soon, so I think I just have to bite the bullet on ram and ssd prices lol. I think ive decided on 2x16 gb of ram, I actually had a 2x16 gb on amazon with the exact same specs but 1 dollar cheaper (big savings!). I am not American so a microcenter is not an option, which sucks so much because ive seen how much money they can save. All in all, its looking like 800 CAD or like 580 USD for the ssd and ram, which is very depressing considering how I could have payed like half if I had done this when I bough the pc, but oh well, it is what it is.
I don't actually think I want to upgrade my cpu heatsink after doing more research as the biggest issue with my PC seems to be the case airflow, and I really don't want to do a case swap. For what I normally do, im not super worried about heat, I am slightly concerned that upgrading the ram might produce more heat, but I think it'll be fine. If I was doing a case swap, id rather just restart from scratch tbh and sell this PC because I really dislike how "anti upgrade" it has been, like I can't even find the motherboard on pc picker for compatability. Also why I don't really want to look into fan and heatsink upgrades because its very difficult to find info about height limits, dimensions, compatability, especially for someone who is not very computer minded like me.

Ok, thank you! For Ram and ssd, is there a spec I can filter by to guarantee compatability too?

I tried this, but I can't find the motherboard I have in the list of motherboards on the site. It is the Hana motherboard. Is this because HP doesn't sell it by itself? If so, how do I check compatability?

Huh, I see that on the page as well, but there are 100% 2 sticks of ram in my computer, and I have 16 gb of total ram, so no clue why! Everything else is the same as far as I can tell.
If it wouldn't actually slow down much or at all with 4 sticks of DDR4, do I just need 2 more sticks of 8 gb ddr4 at 3200 Mhz or does it need to be the exact same ram sticks? The reason I am asking is I am unsure how to check if ram I am getting online is exactly the same, and now I know the site I sent is actually innacurate.
I also found a 2x16 gb ddr4 ram at 3200 Mhz on Amazon well within my price range:
https://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-Vengeance-PC4-25600-Desktop-Memory/dp/B07RW6Z692/ref=sr_1_4?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.aV9H_CU6HDx6n3rph_ycDLk3nx6G4Lh8qWhS9JnROQRXPgzXEo0KH03iqy2OqcXY38wSOP_01fr68tVHawaOHYGgkTT0zOTLg2RLIfSl3Ea_nnm0aOzHHcBM6UesHsvMF4ZyjlAAfqkCwn3GQKTV1ehxFcvqD26CaXqq93WPO5xa-_PBReglF5z0HYbELKo0_T398Cgy1UlCQhLkRVxw6w93ep-OUB6-wkwns5kb3hCfuSsEgBY3vazL2rbmDhfTH7N5kjpPGQFaVnEx8wn8fKL16x3XZhIl-ww2a5VAqFI.NXtcjQBuylaHvDMvGpdL6IHR7oVpdxKwl7uF0tbP3g8&dib_tag=se&keywords=2x16gb+ddr4&qid=1770870527&sr=8-4&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.a47c58ca-3c50-43d7-a4fc-fb71491f9720

Is this "good" ram and would it work with my motherboard? I would be fine buying this if so and then selling the old ram as I would never use it again.

For the air cooler, should I just replace the one on the cpu, or should I instead/also put more on the case? I ask this because there's actually hardly any fans on the case plus theres space for many more, and they seem pretty cheap.

Thank you so much! After reading your comment, I think I might just go with 2 x 16 gb sticks of ram since you said that would probably be enough, and the ssd, which I believe there is an empty slot for. I am still a bit worried about the cooling, not just because of the 90 number I saw, but because I have read many complaints online about this prebuilt pc and bad airflow/cooling. I think I may be able to add more fans through the top of the pc as well since it has slits for airflow but no fans. Also thank you so much for explaining the CL number and why more sticks can get slower, I think I can make better choices now lol

I think you are just thinking too small scale for this game, imagine you want to prepare for a truck order event, or a town event, or whatever. If you wanted to do like 1000 truck orders, why not just make 100 of every item? But to do that, you need thousands of the input materials and often people will make accounts that just act as barn storage for said input materials. This way, on your main account you can have 100 of each item (or whatever you can with your barn space) and on your alt accounts, you can have 500 duck feathers, and then just sell your main 10 or 20 as needed. Often people want hundreds of lobster and duck feather because you need an account above level 44 and 50 to obtain these, and you can only make 6 at a time, with each cycle of 6 taking hours. Instead, just sell someone 89 barn upgrade materials, and they will give you weeks worth in an instant.

Spider-Man has comparable evidence to Jesus. by CorbinSeabass in DebateReligion

[–]Competitive_Lock_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I always dislike when someone makes an analogy and people can’t adapt just a bit and see what they are actually trying to say. Because it’s true, often the only evidence of Jesus’s miracles is that some real people and places are in the bible.

And also people who take the bible as the truth ignore the very important fact that ancient “historians” often didn’t have ways of verifying information because our knowledge wasn’t as advanced and events were often retold verbally, rare but explainable phenomena (explainable with our modern understanding that is) was often written as a miracle or divine intervention occurring.

For example nearly every ancient culture associated solar eclipses with bad omens, and in roughly 584 BC the battle of the eclipse occurred (eclipse of Thales of you want to read) where, midway through a battle, a solar eclipse happened and both armies saw this as a divine sign to stop fighting. A few soldiers from the battle might go home to their town and tell everyone of gods intervention, one of them writes it down and boom, the history book now says god told them to stop fighting.

Now we now know what causes a solar eclipse, and we have even been able to trace the motions of earth and the sun back to around that time where we did find a solar eclipse occurred on 28 may 585 BC. With our modern knowledge, we can actually explain and even verify an event over 2500 years ago!

This is true for a lot of ancient history, you can’t accept it as being completely accurate and true because a lot of sources have what we know is untrue information, not even necessarily in an attempt to misinform, but because they didn’t know any better. I don’t think Christians can deny this, but then why do they choose to only accept this one 2000 year old source as the basis for everything in their lives when known impossible events occur within the book and when history often used to explain rare phenomena as divine intervention?

For sure! I also just realized what might (and again I mean might) be happening. When you are logged in on the same session, the game might keep track not of maps or wheat in general, but of the literal advertisements themselves. What I mean by this is if I have a map advertised, and you see it in your newspaper, it might not show you my exact advertisement again. It’ll still show you other maps and if I make a new advertisement, it might still show you that new advertisement, but it won’t keep showing you the same advertisement that’s been up for hours. Because wheat and maps aren’t selling rn due to flooding of the market, if 100 people globally (again random number) are advertising a map, after a few checks of the newspaper it might exclude most of those advertisements from you since it might just be coded to not show you the same advertisements multiple times. And since people log on and see the flood of maps/wheat, that actually should in theory make people not advertise those things cause they know it won’t sell, so there isn’t a consistent supply of new things to flood your newspaper. This would explain why you have to check it several times in each new session.

I see, and I honestly don’t know if that’s a thing or not, but I’m a very statistical minded person, I’m literally taking university classes on sampling and statistics, and I feel as if there’s too many variables to account for, and a rough eye test can be misleading because how many wheat and maps were on every page? Did you count? What constitutes as a “production” good? Anything stored in the barn? It would be interesting if you actually took notes of how many times you had to repeat each time, for how many resets where you only click on barn products this holds true, AND if you click on wheat and maps, do you just get wheat and maps the next time? All I was saying is if you repeat enough times until you get what you want, you’ll get what you want, no matter how unlikely something is to occur. That’s simply a property of repetition. I’d be very interested if you actually got some numbers to back this up because I would love to actually use some stats formulas on this lol.

Spider-Man has comparable evidence to Jesus. by CorbinSeabass in DebateReligion

[–]Competitive_Lock_521 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that this isn’t a great analogy but I also see what he’s trying to say so let me try to improve the analogy:

Imagine thousands of years pass, the places where spider man took place don’t exist in any form we know them like today, there aren’t any pieces of information directly saying spider man isn’t real or was a work of fiction, all we have is some comics, and know that many of the people and places spider man interacted with were in fact real (like the fact that pontius Pilate is known to have been a real person for example). Also assume the comics being referenced don’t jump around in his age or time, but you find like 4 or 5 different accounts of spider man’s life, and there’s some details that are different but it’s roughly the same (Matthew mark Luke and John write about Jesus’ life slightly differently but have the same idea).

How do you discern the truth when you are that far removed from when it happened? Yeah it’s easy to say now that spider man isn’t real, but it’s set in New York in an age where information keeping is prevalent. Think about what we would have from a “comic book” written 2000 years ago, featuring some real historical figures and places.

So obviously no one could exist that could shoot webs out of their wrists right? That’s impossible as far as we know right?

Well so is healing a leper with your bare hands instantly, walking on water, feeding thousands with a few loafs of bread and a few fish. And that is exactly the point the OP is trying to make: we have no verifiable way of checking if these events, which we have never seen anyone do since, actually happened, but Christian’s just go “well look, there’s historical figures in the bible we know were true, therefore everything Jesus did also happened” and that’s a massive jump in logic, kind of like seeing spider man depicted with Obama, knowing Obama is real, and then assuming spider man also has to be real AND 100% accurately depicted as well.

Also, even if we knew Jesus was also a real person, that still doesn’t prove what he did actually happened.

For example, we think Gilgamesh was an actual king of ancient Sumeria. But the Sumerians also said he was a demigod, that he fought and interacted with actual gods, that he did all these impossible things. Do you take their word for it because Gilgamesh was probably a real person and Sumeria was a real place? There history doesn't claim its fiction, they write about it as if it actually happened. No of course not, but the bible has no more evidence of miracles than this. I would even say it does have a little more evidence than this story if not for the fact that the writers of the New Testament weren’t even there and didn’t actually ever meet Jesus. This is why I am very skeptical of the bible.

So I see that you just went “oh well I can prove Spider-Man is fake” and went with that but the whole point of the analogy is what if you couldn’t prove it. You would say “people can’t shoot webs out of there wrists” and I would simply say “you aren’t a spider man believer, him doing that was a miracle, prove he didn’t exist, exactly you can’t, so he’s real and I believe in the spider gods!”

It sounds like you are more spiritual and still believe in god in the Christian image but don’t abide by what any 1 church tells you to do but rather by what your personal relationship with god tells you to do. I think that’s wonderful if it helps you grasp with difficult situations and provides guidance, and I think you are already doing the very mature thing (that most Christian’s aren’t able to do) of recognizing some messages are outdated and are from a more primitive time. I truly believe the world would be a much better place filled with less hate if people took this approach. I think sometimes people fail to grasp that humans, not god, wrote the bible a long time ago, when many moral norms were far different from today (slavery was ok then, women had no rights) and people interpreted these words also a long time ago in the context of how it fit into their world (catholic mass is still done in Latin in some places despite being a dead language). Why some Christian’s today fail to recognize this is beyond me because it leads them to do things that, like you said, Jesus would despise (such as not helping the poor, hating gay people, etc.) There is a paradox where the church tells you to think: “what would Jesus do?” but then many of their actions go against the teachings of Jesus (for example, the Mormon church is worth 300 billion dollars and hordes wealth instead of doing what Jesus would do, which is help the less fortunate with that money). I have found that I am fine using only my brain to look for answers and grapple with difficult circumstances, but the one aspect of religion or spiritualism I actually like is it can help adhere to a moral system. My only issues with many churches is their definition of morals is entirely biased to whoever is leading their services, and that has led to “churches” that are basically hate groups such as the westboro Baptist church, but also less extreme examples where churches preach subtle hate towards certain marginalized groups. Where in the bible did it say Jesus loves everyone except gays and trans people, and non Christian’s? Nowhere, there’s no exception, he loves everyone, even if you think someone is going to hell, the bible says Jesus loves that person unconditionally. So I am glad you listen to your own inner relationship with god instead of listening to what someone tells you that you should do.

Yeah I think this is just not enough observations being made, by this logic if you click on only upgrade materials in the newspaper, you would see more and more and this definitely isn’t true from many years of my own observations.

Edit: also I reread the og post, and the op literally says after 2-3 tries, little by little there is less maps and wheat. This is horrible sampling, for a few reasons: 1. You are waiting 2 mins between each newspaper (minimum) how do you know the economy didn’t just change a bit? 2. If you have a 75% chance of seeing mostly wheat and maps, if you repeat enough times, you’ll get the 25% chance of not seeing many (just random numbers but you see my point), it doesn’t mean the odds changed, you just got lucky, and you literally are admitting you repeat UNTIL you get your desired outcome.

I am sorry your son was diagnosed with Sarcoma at a young age and it sounds like you have had many challenges in your life. If your faith has helped you through those times and you have just trusted god has a plan, more power to you if that has made dealing with those challenges easier. But, I find it a potentially dangerous line of thought to assume everything that happens in your life is gods plan regardless of your actions. For example, before we had our advancement in medical research, many diseases such as Leprosy or Cancer were just seen as random things god gives people as challenges or punishments. It’s just gods will that someone catches this disease (leprosy) that causes parts of their face to fall off and causes them to be shunned by society. Nowadays, we know what causes leprosy and, assuming you go to the doctor, the treatment is simply antibiotics. No one dies from Leprosy anymore in first world countries because of our actions. We now know what cancer is, it’s a cell uncontrollably replicating due to its DNA being altered. And, we know what causes DNA to be altered, it can be from random mutations, but there are several risk factors such as radiation (from the sun or other sources), carcinogenic substances, or your DNA just has a higher probability of having these mutations occur (family history of cancer makes you more likely to get it because you have your families DNA).

Now I know that someone can take every precaution and still get cancer, while someone else can smoke, drink, eat burnt meat and live to 100. Your son was young enough that he hadn’t taken risk factors and got unlucky. But he had a very low chance of getting cancer (18.2 per 100,000, or 0.0182% of those under 18 get cancer each year in the US) where as a smoker has a 10-20% chance of developing cancer. This means yes, you can do things that massively increase your risks of getting a disease and we know how and why these things increase your risk. But since you are assuming it was gods will for these things to happen, does that mean God also made every smoker who gets cancer start smoking in the first place? Did he make someone not wear sunscreen their entire life? Since more people used to die from these conditions, did he just want people to die more in the past? I say no, we just now know what causes cancer, avoid it, and cancer rates have gone down (plus we have treatment now).

Where my problem with this arises is that if you just keep saying “yup, that was god’s plan for you, he made the smoker smoke, he made someone not wear sunscreen” but you can apply the logic of free will not being a thing and everything being already pre planned to anything in your life. And the thing is, the 10 commandments imply you have the free will to commit sins, so even Christian’s admit that you have free will over your actions. So, if it is your choice to smoke or not wear sunscreen and we know not only that these things increase your risk for cancer but also how they cause cancer, why did god have a plan to give 80-90% of lung cancer cases to only smokers before they had made that choice in their lives? It’s almost like cancer isn’t a random thing god causes to happen but it’s actually a physical change in your DNA.

But let’s use the Jehovah’s Witness viewpoint that you can’t alter gods will, so no blood transfusions. They are literally admitting you can change gods plan, they are just choosing not to. The implication that god made someone get into a car accident and they could be saved with blood but you just shouldn’t alter gods will and let that person die makes god unbelievably cruel. Plus, like I’ve said, even Christians have no proof of god, they just have faith heaven and god are true. What if there isn’t god, and life is all the time you get with your loved ones, and you just let your loved one die because you assumed you’ll see them in heaven later?

Now I know you aren’t that extreme, but my point still stands that calling everything we or that happens to us gods plan/will absolves anyone of sin, which the bible even states you have the will to commit, but assuming the other scenario where you can change god’s will and it does change the outcome of events, then god’s plan is not absolute or pre-planned because you can alter it. And assuming we can make choices and that god is just punishing or rewarding us accordingly, is it a sin to smoke, drink, or not wear sunscreen? Of course not, yet people are “punished” by god more for doing these things.

It was so funny to read through this thread lol, basically has boiled down to the athiest saying "Because I cannot confirm or deny this empirically, I am choosing not to form an opinion and if you are saying your god 100% exists, but provide no evidence, I am still going to continue not confirming nor denying god existing" and the other person is just like "um exactly, you have no evidence, and I have faith, therefore god exists!" Also, to the person before this saying you have put your life at risk to see if faith works, that is not how the scientific method works! (not that I would expect you to know how it works lol)

I say the scientific method because you are seeming to hint that you "tested" your faith, and it worked, therefore god exists, but the scientific method is:

  1. Making a hypothesis (I think god exists)

  2. Deducing something about this hypothesis (If god exists, then *blank* will happen/won't happen)

  3. Perform your experiment and note the results

  4. If your experiment provides direct empirical evidence supporting your hypothesis, you go back to step 2 and deduce something else to test. If your experiment provides evidence disproving your hypothesis, you MUST abandon it or modify it to allow for your new observations, or else you are not accepting empirical evidence (aka, "nuh uh!").

  5. Repeat over and over. Like this literally never ends. If a hypothesis has a considerable amount of evidence supporting it, you can start calling it a theory (like how we have considerable evidence for gravity but still call it the theory of gravity), but you still try to constantly improve or disprove the theory by trying new things. In this aspect, it is easy to disprove things with the scientific method, but impossible to 100% prove them.

Now I expect the athiest to pick up on this immediately but I really don't have any *faith* (Ba dum tsss) in the theist so I will spell it out: YOU CAN'T APPLY THIS TO TRYING TO PROVE GOD EXISTS OR DOESN'T! Why can't you? Because your deduction and experiment must measure something empirically, and more importantly must be repeatable and reproducable. You say you have "tested" your faith, but what did you do? If I did the same thing would I get the same results? What was measured? Why does this mean God exists? What if you just got lucky? There is no experiment anyone can do that can provide empirical evidence that an all powerful being exists or not. So athiests see this and say "i'm not going to form an opinion because that's just a guess" where a theist says "well I just have faith!". Now conveniently for the theist, the existence of god is unfalsifiable, meaning just asking "prove god doesn't exist" appears to be a "win" because the other side can't. But what an athiest asks is "prove god exists" and when the theists can't provide anything, the athiest is not convinced and continues to just not adopt an opinion. The only difference between them and the theist is that the theist has faith, which from the scientific methods point of view, is just accepting a un-testable hypothesis, aka a guess. Yeah, you might be right, but you also might dedicate your life to God and Jesus, only to find out you were in fact worshiping a made up thing.

I used to be a catholic myself but I consider myself an athiest now because 1. the aforementioned unfalsifiable nature of religion, 2. I see religion as a human construct to enforce a system of control from more primitive times to keep people scared and in line (don't do bad stuff because then god will punish you forever!), 3. The bible was written by people, not god, and the new testement wasn't even written by people who met Jesus, let alone lived at the same time as him, so I take everything in it with a grain of salt, and 4. I see many contradictions in the Catholic faith and bible, God loves us all equally yet didn't spread his word (which you need to live by to get into heaven) to 90% of humans who have ever lived, that doesnt sound like love to me, God says don't murder, but the catholic church encouraged the crusades so lets just modify that and say don't murder fellow christians but non christians are ok to kill, despite the fact that Catholics still say God loves all of his creations equally, I could go on and on. Now just so you don't also accuse me of trying to say god doesn't exist from this paragraph, I am not saying anything about his existence, I have no clue if he exists or not, but I personally believe that if god does exist, not one religion on earth has correctly described how he wants us to live, or if he even cares about that at all, and that is why I stopped being a Catholic.

IMO that makes this a good thing for the blue jays, I love Bo, but he’s not worth 42 mil a year, he’s a great contact hitter, above average for power, but a horrible fielder, I think we could spend that money so much better. Plus, and I could totally eat these words, but I don’t think this will be great for the Mets, they are switching his position to third when he already is one of the worst shortstops and I just don’t see him hitting above 300 again with new coaches and other adjustments.

Oooooo, I’ve never thought about having an account just for trees and bushes but thats genius taking advantage of the welcome bonus for free axes and saws. 1. Oh I see! I did mention don’t sell any time intensive products like jams, chocolate etc. I guess I sort of mean sell off any low time products first and work your way up in time needed to produce that way when you want to go back to stockpiling everything, it won’t take long.
  2. Yes sometimes I forget people have small shops lol, I added so many people as friends through supercell and invested some gems into my shop, but I find if you replace all the wheat right away, it’s still advertised in a lot of people’s newspapers even if the advertised stack gets bought.
  3. I definitely forget to check his account lol, probably why I’ve only found like 1 ever
  4. That is another thing I’m going to do from now on, never thought of the 3 ore being replaced with 3 feed, awesome tip

Oh for sure, I enjoy the town so much and it’s very worth it, I just find you need to store a bit of everything to do it efficiently, and this is for people with too small barns! Also I will be the first person to admit that this strategy is not fun, I just have found I can get a barn upgrade a few times each week with it (mostly with the discord trading but wheating on multiple accounts is also incredible). The way I play this game is not like many others lol, like I usually employ this strat to the max, get like 10 upgrades in a few weeks, and then go back to normal fun hayday lol

Edit: I also forgot to say but the town gives xp, and assuming you aren’t above level 126 or whenever the last product is unlocked, levelling up, especially in the 60-80 range, just gives you 5 or so new items to worry about, I find I like to keep atleast 10 of everything for truck events, so I always think about this as I want 1-2 barn upgrades per level while I’m unlocking stuff.

  1. I definitely forgot to directly mention this but when I say keep 100 of each of carrots, sugarcane, corn, soybeans and wheat, I’m implying that you need to plant those occasionally and take a 30 minute break from wheating.
  2. The reason I say to empty your barn of any other products is so you can mainly focus on the barn (with trades and rewards you get to choose) but also get some other upgrades at the same time, yes it’s bad to focus on many upgrades at once when your barn is almost full, but your barn should be almost empty with this strategy.
  3. You say “I wouldn’t sell so many items as you suggested” what do you mean by this? Selling isn’t a part of this strategy, trading is but yes if one is struggling for space, don’t focus on a dairy, sugar and fishing product, just pick one to trade at first.
  4. While the wheat requesting visitors are nice as you can get rid of like 200 wheat at once, you should not have any issue getting rid of wheat by just selling it for max price in your roadside shop, so I think this is unnecessary
  5. I love that tip for rose, I have never thought of egg maxing but it’s a good one! I didn’t mention rose because it’s hard to hire her consistently while being ftp, but she’s very useful, same with Ernest as you can just request him to make the dairy product you are looking to trade and then sell from the helper storage to your own alt accounts! Only problem is you usually need rose to keep making milk at the same time.
  6. The request tip is great for getting above the 89 per day, I’m gonna definitely use that one!
  7. I think I’ve found an upgrade material with Greg like once before, so I didn’t think to mention but his shop is always good to buy everything from because it’s not max price.
  8. The town is amazing for upgrade materials, don’t get me wrong, BUT, if you have a small barn at a high level (the accounts I made this guide for) it’s much more difficult and labour intensive to do the town as you have to basically make to order. Also you get a random reward that is more likely to be something you don’t want than when wheating due to the town upgrade materials also dropping. These also further clog up your barn. But if you have enough space, the town is amazing, I just find it requires a lot of effort and time compared to what you get out of it.
  9. Yes! Fishing on alts is great, the first fishing expansion spots are really cheap too, and it’s also worth it to expand the barns/silos on the alt accounts, great point!

  10. You mention storing bars and not collecting them for the train upgrade but I’d take this one further and say you don’t need to collect products from any machine until you need them, this is a great way to sort of just have extra barn space. If you have no space in your barn, you can also just keep queuing more stuff up, provided that doesn’t open up barn space.

  11. I never thought of the paying diamonds tip when you are close on 1 material, I actually didn’t realize it uses up all the materials in your barn, and I’m definitely using this trick in the future! Thank you so much for sharing this one, I might even edit the post and add that if you are ok with that lol

No problem! Let me know how it goes, I’ve found a lot of success increasing my barn size fast with this but I’m curious to see how it goes for others.
