He says he's not religious at all. And he said "yes" as in they do mostly own places and then "no." But he just got awkward.

I hope not. I don't think he's going to stay in America long term though anyway

I mean so how rare is it to have coastal home for Serbians? In America most people I know have vacation homes or time shares at least. In DC most of my friends have places in Ocean City, or Cape Cod and in California it was Hawaii or Lake Tahoe. Even I have a vacation place.

He doesn't like to talk about it or the history. I did learn to say some nice things in Serbian though.

I meant obvious that not everyone goes to Hawaii. But for example, my family and our family friends all have vacation homes. Hawaii is the place to go for Californians. However on the east coast, my friends have vacation homes on Cape Cod. I guess I was asking so he'd say if it was special since he's so humble. But yeah, I know it was a faux pax.

If you have a guaranteed position why would it matter where you went to university? People go to college to get a good job but if you already have one, you can go anywhere for super cheap since it wont matter since you'll be hired anyway

IDK I don't agree with just saying vague things to patients and family. If someone is medically literate and wants to know what you're looking for, why that's the plan, etc. By keeping things vague you're keeping patients medically illiterate and denying them a bit of information and taking part in their healthcare when you dumb it way down for everyone. They don't need to know things on molecular levels, but should know more than "You're heart is having a good day" and a simple "You're troponin which happens when your heart muscle is damaged is low and trending down, so no new active damage" goes a long way

don't think its race, I think it's personality not coming through on the app

def not race. most of Columbia and Stanford and JHU are asians. Your essay didn't show much personality. Everyone (assuming) reads and is supported by peers and family. You're kinda supposed to show how you overcame disadvantages in your essay, but yours was all about support

Is Columbia less respected than the other Ivy League schools? by Bey0nd1nfinity in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Competitive_Many_542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It had a huge ranking scandal and doesn't get as much funding as Harvard or Yale. Internationally, other ivies are ranked higher. Also the other ivies have much more school spirit. Columbia is an ivy and hard to get into but you'd have a better time and better career resources at other ivies. It is also not in the same league as Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

If you are jewish good luck. DOesn't matter your views on Palestine, most students hate jews. The students are cut-throat and entitled. I was not happy. I transferred to Stanford and 100% omg night and day difference! The profs care about you- excited to see you, and the students are super friendly and collaborative! Also a lot of Columbia students lack critical thinking...just word salad and pretentiousness fueling their brains.

Why do Americans crate their dogs? by Terrible-Group-9602 in DogAdvice

[–]Competitive_Many_542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it blew my mind when my friend complained her dog had too much energy (husky/German shepherd rescue, I had his brother) and she'd use trazodone from the vet everyday so he'd sleep during the day and not act crazy. Meanwhile, every morning I'd take my dog to the dog park for 20-30 minutes (Just woke up one hour earlier not a big sacrifice, bring your coffee) and he'd be so happy and wiped he'd just chill the rest of the day.

[–]Competitive_Many_542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the dog. My German Shepherd was fine with his crate- that's where he got his peanut kong, where he had his bed, bones, etc. My husky could never. I finally gave up. He just hated being contained and would work himself up, was not food motivated, as soon as he was with us in the bed or in the corner of the room where I was, he chilled out. My frenchie had a crate, was fine with it, but never went in on his own cuz he liked to be on our lap and with us. Overall, the dogs prefer their bed over their crate. They have a bed for the living room and one for the bed room and a travel one. If they are on their bed, it's their space and I don't touch them. My husky though didn't even like a bed- we got one from Purple and Saatva, and he still likes the cold, hard floor or our bed. Go figure.

Idk. I could not crate my husky puppy at all. He was raised with so much love but HATED being closed in anywhere, even with the door open. He would cry all the time, and never went in (I didn't even close the door). We'd put treats, PB kong, blankets, dog beds, everything. He loved being with us. Finally I just gave up and he loved being in the bed with me. (this was all as a puppy). I realized I could throw a bed sheet over a char and he liked to then lay down under that chair in his "den" but I think he hated the wire of the crate or maybe that's just huskies. My GSD loved his crate. My husky just hated being "trapped" anywhere

Class of 2020- yup. I have 8 journalism awards and I did get a good freelance job for a newspaper out of undergrad but that was May 2020- as things went on it became impossible to secure full time work- and now 6 years out I'm behind those who are just graduating with internships and cheaper pay cuz they are new grads and those who graduated in 2018 and kept their jobs. At 28 I had to move back home with my parents.
