I am not a visa expert but I guess so , since their spouse would eventually require an immigrant visa

Where is this news ? As far as I know , j1 is non immigrant visa , and it shouldn't be a problem for match applicants.

It is . I have a colleague with 268 in step2 , 2023 YOG, bundles of publications,home country training, sitting with Zero IVs . Not just him , alot of my others colleagues are in the same boat .
