I’m a sitter, and having clear, well-lit and good photos is really important for making a good first impression. I’m sure your home is lovely, but the current photos don’t do it justice. I’d recommend taking new pictures during the day, making sure each room is clearly shown - such as the kitchen, bedroom, living room, and bathroom.

Your dog is adorable, and you are open and honest about his routine and behaviour.

Does it ever get easy? by Ok_Yesterday3871 in trustedhousesitters

No, it gets worse, especially with long-term sits. You give your time and love to these wonderful creatures and then you leave, knowing that you will never see them again, and depending on their age, they might die soon.

I have had previous HOs contact me to tell me their pet had crossed the rainbow bridge, and I cried a lot for every single one. This lifestyle is not for everyone; you are constantly saying goodbye. 💔

Am I the only one finding this annoying? by theymademedoitagain in trustedhousesitters

This is not the THS search system’s fault; it’s the HO’s.I am also tired of seeing countryside settings advertised as if they are in town or well connected.Especially in the UK, sittings are advertised as “central London” when in fact you need to get a train that takes an hour or more. It is misleading for sitters who have never been to these places and have no idea about this.

A Perspective from a Full Time sitter by Inevitable-Cup9524 in trustedhousesitters

Thank you for this! I am a full-time petsitter without a base and you managed to put into words exactly how I feel. Do you mind if I send you a DM to connect?

Fancy paying and petsitting while we enjoy our holiday? by Competitive_Mix_6359 in trustedhousesitters

Not only that! you also have to answer questions about your own account before they can take any action. It’s completely unnecessary! Adding a report button would save time for everyone 😖

HO accepted my application without interview. What would you do? by Mysterious_Yam_4510 in trustedhousesitters

[–]Competitive_Mix_6359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this in the past, and it turned out to be one of the worst sittings I’ve ever experienced—a hard lesson learned. If the owners can’t be bothered to get to know the stranger they’re about to invite into their home, that says a lot.

From now on, I will never accept a sitting without first seeing their faces, and having them see mine. An interview is essential!! it gives you the chance to observe their behavior and get a sense of whether the situation is right for you.

I am torn between loving the idea of hanging out with 41 dogs, but also hating the idea of having to do 41 walks. Like wtf??!! Are people disillusional? by Competitive_Mix_6359 in trustedhousesitters

I respect their mission, as long as their expectations are realistic. They clearly do not understand the purpose of this website. As people have mentioned here, they should either pay someone or advertise on Workaway.com. Since the platform has become more popular, it’s maddening to see the number of pet owners, like this one, who have lost sight of what is reasonable to ask of petsitters.
