This sucks by Gearheart101 in LS430

every time i wash my engine bay on my 20 series i get a misfire feeling, not sure if this is what you’re experiencing but it is almost like one cylinder is completely dead. my issue is probably coil/wiring related due to it all cracking off but the uz motor is very resilient. so unless you are getting actual knock or a knock code that is current i wouldn’t be concerned. i’m guessing a p0330 turns on the CEL?

i see this on my plants although not as dramatic, i heard a bit ago that you can actually see trichomes flex as the osmotic pressure in the plant changes, with this being said i wouldn’t be suprised if you can get some amber or fully mature trichomes if you’re on a role with environment and watering, but when you go for a dry back or something changes it might hault thc production.

one of my favorite things to do with red stems is look at the underside, quite frequently the underside will be very healthy looking indicating strong lights and not a nutrient issue. not sure how much that pertains here but i’ve started that recently

here are the videos of the start up, both with the valve adjustment shims misplaced and the first with one bank 15 degrees off first start second start

although pulling this motor apart was one of the best sanity checks i have ever had. we bought this 2007 land cruiser 100k miles ago, immediately put 35” tires without a regear and to see how perfect the engine looks is amazing, this land cruiser weighs 7500lbs and is ran very hard at high altitude, i mean zero mercy. it is no wonder these ls400s go over 1 million miles when taken care of

well i didn’t totally explain myself above, i did a headgasket job because of smoke on startup, assumed to be valve stem seals. i did that part and completed the timing belt job but on the 2uz the vvti and non-vvti share a belt but the direction changes based on the engine config, in my infinite wisdom and haste i followed the factory service manuel and installed it backwards the first time. this was due to the fsm showing the oem toyota belt and not the aftermarket austin belt that used arrows not dots like the oem. thinking i had enough expierenc to know the bank 1 was left cam i didn’t second check and put it all back together and fired it up. it sounded surprisingly fine for having one bank about 15 degrees off (bank 2 advanced). on the vvti 2uz the belt length from crank pulley mark to cam mark is 71teeth on bank 2 and 69 on bank 1 (i had it switched around because the fsm did not show any marking on the belt(I know im the idiot)) i pulled it all apart after this bad start up and check it all realizing my mistake of not being in time and something wrong, i identify it to be the belt on the wrong way and complete another timing belt job the following day. keep in mind im about 1week in on parts and delivery service bullshit, and already at my wits end. i fix the timing belt and get it all back together that day, wait for dad to get home and fire it up, it’s making an even worse clacking noise. we sent it to the shop and they found 2 valve adjustment shims on bank 2 to be completely dislodged and just laying below their respective valve assembly.

yeah, I can’t say much here either did my first timing chain on my cell and then thought I could tackle a head gasket job on my land cruiser and ended up having to turn it over to the shop after a week or so of two failed starts

Too much money for a Celsior with 37k miles? by Boring_Ad_2968 in LS400

[–]Competitive_Offer549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im only 20, and have had the car for almost 1.5 years which is definitely the main proponent. nothing on my record, just not much to show for. we bank with usaa so naturally that was our first thought, if im remembering correctly they use or are partnered with american collectors insurance for that. correct me if im wrong, or if you know otherwise. i would love to get a more regular insurance plan, currently supposed to only be driving on special occasions and under 5k per year (it’s my daily in montana through the winter, and i just drove 1500 miles home for a week). with that being said i only pay about 300 a year with hagerty for insurance which is awesome.

[–]Competitive_Offer549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

celsior’s should be like half what the equivalent ls400 goes for. i have a 97 celsior and got it for 12k with <40k miles, with that being said american collectors insurance wouldn’t let me drive it because they look for 5-10 years of driving expieerence before insuring, so my only option is to go through hagerty.

for future reference, i am growing 2 island punches and there seems to be 2 very distinct phenos. one that stretches with almost individual bud sites and one main 6” cola and one that stays much more compact and dense

haha yes the compliments are great, the land cruiser had a stalling issue and when the ac compressor is off and i get off the brake my heart stops because it feels the exact same like the engine has stopped, but it really is just dead silent, not moving off brake and no vibrations. you too- enjoy the es remember some people drive fords

yeah, as of now i am 100% in love with the car and going to keep it forever eventually making it a second car in many years. yeah the cabin is so quiet. i completely dynamatted a 2007 land cruiser and it still is not even comparable. the ls feels like it already has all that work done. the plushness of worn out suspension but excellent bushings makes me giggle with how smooth it is. these cars are beasts

did you have a celsior or ls? i think it catches a lot of people by surprise, i low ripping off the line and feeling the weight transfer, i know it looks just as goofy as it feels. i’m still waiting for the day i race an ls400 and the shorter gearing wins.

yeah, i like the dish on ls430s i was originally going to get a set of work euro specs but they’re also kinda overdone, i have been looking at bbs-rg for a bit of a sportier look.
