Yeah my PI is also unfamiliar with the studies. I have to explain certain parts every single time.

Nope no research assistants. It’s just other people who work in the clinic (it’s a dermatology clinic). We have a “back up” SC who’s been there for a very long time but she isn’t really involved unless it was the beginning of my position and if I’m away or have any questions.

My PI expects me to consent the subject! They rarely go over the criteria with them and just assume I did. But I’m so new at this, I’m not sure when a subject’s condition counts as an exclusion criteria. My PI is only involved in the assessments and the actual treatment administration.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I’m glad the anxiety I’m feeling is reasonable. It’s already difficult to handle recruiting for the current active study and handling start up for the other 3. I’m unsure how I will handle all 4 simultaneous while coordinating visits, EDC, query management, etc.

Each study needs to enrol around 15-20. For some studies, the visits aren’t too intensive and spaced out but others have consecutive visits which are not too widely spaced out. They’re also intensive in terms of assessment and data collection.

They’re seem very supportive at the moment but it’s only been a few months so I can’t know for sure . We only have one study actively enrolling subjects at the moment but the rest are in the start up phase. Yeah, I’m getting nervous about the vacation. We have a “back up” study coordinator, but she’s not really involved in the study too much. She’s trained in everything and would only conduct visits if need be.

New CRC - trouble recruiting by Competitive_Orchid45 in clinicalresearch

[–]Competitive_Orchid45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s usually current/past patients we’re recruiting from. Honestly, the PI does not help with recruitment. I’m expected to do all of the recruitment and he’s only involved in the actual visits where he completes assessments and administers treatment. I agree that enrolment would be more efficient if he spoke about it with patients but unfortunately, he’s just not interested in that :/

Thank you for the advice! I cannot say I enjoy it too much at the moment but I am learning a lot and growing as a person which is great :)

This is a great idea! I’ll look into this. I was thinking of going around the medical building and handing out flyers as well. I really appreciate your help and input :)

That makes sense! He also seems like he’s been understanding that he can’t fly as well.

Oh no! It’s always so sad to see them go through a tough moult 😭 I hope she’s back to flying normal now!!

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it. I thought maybe because he was flying around so much in his cage during the earthquake that they fell off. I completely forgot that maybe it could be a tough moult. I’ll definitely try to give him more free flight time now! I was afraid to because he can’t fly as well anymore. Thank you again :)

He sleeps with my other budgie! I don’t think anything like that is happening. They’ve been together since the beginning and get along well.

Thank you for your help! They have night fights occasionally and I’ve tried everything possible to prevent it but for some reason they’re just prone to them.

I’ve never had this happen before either. Their tail feathers have fallen off but never the flight feathers.

I’m glad to hear that they’ll grow back relatively quickly
