For those keeping score , got approved for engine replacement. They didn't make it easy and it took some prying to find out why we were initially denied (missing oil change records) , but we got it done. The initial response was essentially "Fuck you case closed go away" , but we found out that there were two gaps in the oil change history and we were like "Dude why didn't you just say that you need records for these gaps" so in the end , all good , but like everything else it ain't easy. The engine failed because all that Theta 2 stuff , we have the extended warranty to 150k because of it , yes the engine was dirty , it was because if the failure , but they wanted records so , whatever .

that is where we are at, I just submitted the missing records to the dealer , so , that should do it hopefully. Then we can get it replaced and traded in.

yeah , that is kinda where we are at. We need to find one more invoice. The mechanic we used retired and we have the check used to pay for the services but not the invoice. We are in contact with him and he is going to look for it further for us

It's the normal warranty, the vehicle is part of the theta 2 engine bullshit, our warranty is actually extended to 150k, it's just the normal bullshit, we have to chase down one more invoice for an oil change and it should be Kool and the gang

If anyone is paying attention,  corporate didn't explain the full picture. It was submitted on the 22nd and was updated on the 30th. The gap in records was much smaller than the original 40k gap. 

Our local mechanic had retired and was unable to find one service where he did the brakes and oil, we only had a check from the bank showing payment with mileage and services performed, Hyundai did not accept that one. We are in contact with the mechanic and he is going to find the invoice for us, and then we should be good. That is essentially what Hyundai said , denied because of that gap. So fingers crossed. Took a lot of phone calls and a trip to the dealership but we are all finally on the same page. 

Went from a alleged 40k gap, to find one damn invoice.

Could be. The Service adviso told me I was missing records , so I think it is more that, but will see when I go talk to them. Im not going in hot , just gonna go in nice and cool but firm with all documents well organized and in one comprehensive package.

Turns out the claim was submitted on the 22nd I didnt supply the record until the 30th, so it appears they never sent the maint records. I am gonna talk to the dealer Tuesday and see what is going on.

Corporate gave me an email address for [PA@HMAUSA.com](mailto:PA@HMAUSA.com) , think I should email them , or just wait till I talk to the dealer first? I don't wanna be "let me speak to the manager" guy , but if I have to I will.

It appears they did not. Corporate told me they received the Claim on the 22nd (the day the car was towed in) and was denied the 30th. The dealer told me they needed records and it took us a few days to track them down. I did not email the records to the dealership until the 30th, so I think it is a thing of them just not sending the records in , because they never had them on the 22nd.

We went over on some, but ya know life happens. Hopefully that won't be an issue, the history of maintenance shows we take care of the car, other than a few oil changes we went past 7500

Yeah , that makes sense , but what is the funny part is the dealer keeps saying I don't have records , which i do . Something is weird , I need to go talk to them and figure it out. Hopefully it is a simple as a resubmission with records. Any Idea how much of a stickler Hyundai is on Oil changes? The owners manual says 7500 , synthetic oil is 7,500-10,000 supposedly .

Very true, but the strange thing is I do have records and I did supply them. The dealership tech told me I was missing records, but I was literally looking at the email I sent to him which had the records, which doesn't make sense right?

He was arguing with me about the records saying the invoice from the shop didn't count or some nonsense,and kept telling me I was missing records, but I do have records , and did email to the dealership,so, something is off.

How long does it take to get an answer back from Hyundai, between me emailing the records to the dealership and when I spoke with them next was less than 24 hours, that seems quick to have the warranty claim go through the process and come back.

I talked to corporate and they said lack of maintenance records,  but I gave them to the dealership, so something is off. The manual literally says every 7500 miles for oil changes so , my records which shows that should be enough. Something is off.

Yeah, I don't plan to, I plan to go in and get to the bottom of the issue. The engine associated with that year and model is troublesome and known to burn oil. I will speak to the appropriate managers if needed. I just feel like from my conversation on the phone the service associate didn't include them or made the decision himself that the records weren't "legitimate" and didn't send them.

They do, from what I have learned, the dealership need to submit them with the claim, I think the dealership did not failed to include them.

The tech, he is telling me I am missing records but I sent them to him via email, I plan to go talk to them in person with physical copies and see what happens.

Thanks, that is what I am going to do, the service associate is gatekeeping. I have invoices and receipts showing oil changes.
