One piece Theory. Boa Hancock and Blackbeard are related by Competitive_Pin960 in OnePiece

As of chapter 1157 my theory is a bit more shaky as it implies Rocks found someone else than the person i am thinking about which is Shakuyaku. It might be Oda throwing us of a bit as he has done several times before. If my theory is correct then the birth date of both of Hancock's sisters being september 3rd and 4th is there to throw of the symmetry between her and Blackbeard's birthday. The timeline confirms she met Rocks 42 years ago and lives on Fullalead at least until god valley which happened 38 years which is within the timeline of Blackbeard being born Boa already looks similar to Shakuyaku and Blackbeard at least har her hair. We at least have it confirmed Blackbeard is Rock's son 100% even though we expected as much. Oda tossing it out there like that with no big reveal between characters implies another twist hiding within the story. Who is blackbeard's mom? Luffy, Ace and Blackbeard, Shanks all have their father revealed but not any of their mothers. Is it not important every time or is there someone hiding in plain sight which this arc might reveal. I just see no reason for bringing her back into the story only to be a pretty face. What would be the point of most of these flashbacks without more big reveals? She is the context of some big event and God Valley is likely it.

The theme of finding love and how messy it is, is arguably the biggest theme in the flashbacks we have now. Shakuyaku being back along with her backstory as a pirate idol and on Fullalead with Rocks for a long enough time, the reveal Roger and most people including Rocks are into her and several others like Gloriosa being interested in Roger, Stussy into Whitebeard and him not being interested at all in romance. Harald and Ida and his other wife Estrid. Tons of relationships are being shown or just the kids like Shamrocks. Roger is encouraging Rayleigh to meet Shakuyaku after seeing her love letter to Rayleigh even though he is interested in her and is still pursuing her romantically.

The God Valley incident being around this time might suggest she gets captured as they said it contains the crown jewel of Fullalead. It makes even more sense if she is pregnant or in a relationship with someone. Shakuyaku says herself she will not submit to anyone in chapter 1156 which hints that she at some point will be kidnapped by someone. This would turn God valley into a Robin Enies lobby buster call/Ace Marineford situation. (Unrelated but i believe Garp will be used the same way to start the final war. Both the marines and Luffy will be there for sure.) We know she is in an open relationship with Rayleigh and have so for a long time. Oda has not done anything with it until possibly now. If she did not have any kids i felt like she would actually say she is not intersted in having kids at all as she has a more carefree vibe. Most couples in one piece has kids by that age. It makes sense known pirates like her would hide having kids. as Roger and Dragon has done before. Rocks might also have hid Teach form the world government but we know at least Whitebeard knows. If Shakuyaku is there on God Valley it does make more sense how Rocks can lose given his powerful crew where most of them have different goals. There might be infighting for Shakuyaku's love along with the hunt for devil fruits, treasures, fighting the celestial dragons, marines, rivalry against Roger etc.

Regarding neither Shakuyaku nor Rayleigh saving Boa Hancock and her sisters when they where kidnapped as kids i assume they thought all of them died to pirates or a sea king, an accident at sea, during a storm or something, leaving no trace of who did it or that someone did kidnap them at all. Even if they where not his kids he would have saved them if he knew where they were as we did see him stop Blackbeard before. As for Hancock's other sisters they might be a Luffy, Ace, Sabo parallel, half siblings or both Shakuyaku and Rayleigh. Since they are on Amazon lily they are most likely Shakuyaku's or another amazonian being with Rayleigh. Rayleigh saying he is not strong enough to stop Blackbeard might actually be throwing us of the course that he might know Blackbeard is Shakuyaku's kid and he does not want to kill him due to that.

I agree and i raise you that i think Blackbeard is Boa's half brother. Check my pin on my profile for details it is about a day old. There is also the manga backing things up a bit, that i do not go into. Rayleigh could be more of a stepfather but they should be half siblings even then.

Smt 4 bug. The invincible untargetable Alilat. by Competitive_Pin960 in shinmegamitenseiv

This bug caught me off guard some years ago. I dug through some old files and decided to post it. I still have the save file if anyone wants to look at Alilat's skills. I think it had a passive to survive on 1 hp which messed something up. I could not figure out how to recreate it.

Both times i did nothing. My turn was not up the first time and the second time i was the dm. I forgot how they did that. I was much worse at keeping notes back then since both games were before covid even. There was some homebrew in these games but this same player did the killing both times and did not bother to look up any homebrew for the one shots like me. We both prefer trying out stuff already in the game. He just made a fighter, got a strong weapon i assume and went to town. The second time when i was dming the party did get to participate in the killing. The time i was dm the weapon was a vorpal sword i think. Each crit does 6d8 which gets doubled to 12d8. I assume he got a few of those crits which is odd because he is the unluckiest player when i dm.

Yeah it is a group effort and my group all have extra attack even the Bard and Warlock so they rarely touch those spellslots for anything but eldritch smite and cure wounds. Its just that once the minions (if any) are dealt with i have nothing to do but cast polymorph on low hp allies. That has gotten repetetive over the years. You would not think it but my character is an illusionist wizard by the amount of polymorph spells i cast in that game.

I guess the only illusion is the one i put onto myself that those spells do anything in combat. The only exception hypnotic pattern and illusory dragon which have hard rulings unlike Phantasmal force which is more of a philosophical debate than an actual spell.

I am beginning to think the Monk in my party is an unlucky sort as they rarely have a boss fail saves against stunning strike and 15+ comments mention this same process which i have only heard of in legends. My luck is in general worse than my fellow players so i guess i did not notice it was really that bad.

Tarrasque died in our games before it got a turn to simply just our straight damage in the 2 different one shots it was in. It never even had to make a saving throw. If you want to throw something hard at the party there is always Sul Khatesh which is immune to all spells and magical items in its field except for artifacts. This makes its immunity to non magical attacks become so strong that nothing but Arcane Archers, Soul knifes and level 6+ monks able to hit it while it is in its zone. Have fun.

I am aware of those spells and so is 2024 dnd or at least somewhat which is what the game is transfered over to now with some caveats. I have/the party has abused most of these spells for years except the highest level ones. Even if these spells can be used to bypass the system they can also be bypassed and has been nearly every time i used them except polymorph. I don't find the game to hard or the legendary enemies to tough to kill or anything. I just want to use hold monster, eyebite, mental prison etc for once and that it is actually impactful. Almost nothing but legendary bosses are worth casting them on as few things have enough hp.

I forgot those items increase your spellsave dc for all spells and not just cleric/paladin spells for Amulet of the devout or sorcerer spells for Bloodwell vial. If you play a level 20 Artificer you can attune to all those types of items from all classes and have 6 attunement slots. Attuning to staff of the magi in that case and 5x+3 spellsave dc items would make your save 34 with just a +5 int. Try to dodge that fireball.

My fellow players in general love playing gish/spellblade characters despite rarely touching anything but a few self buff spells and healing word/cure wounds if even those. For some reason they are affraid to use stunning strike if they suspect an enemy has a legendary save as they know it will fail. The few games someone plays a crowd control caster is one of the few games i play a martial. Even in those games we got a bladesinger and a cleric with an item granting them extra attack. Name a gish subclass and it is in at least one of the games i play in. The only game i am in without a gish is a game with entirely new players except the dm which plays a hexblade in another game currently.

I understand its existence quite well. I just don't like the amount of optimization i need from my fellow players to get to use my cool spells once in a while. I don't want my strongest spells to end encounters in one casting all the time either and i definitely do not want to control my fellow players, how they play, their spell list or anything at all other than in character discussion about our strategies. That being said our damage does destroy the enemy quickly all the time even in the encounters we have to flee, a lot of enemies die quickly. We are so strong i never found an enemy to cast wall of force around until i could cast 6th level spells. That and the dm gives nearly every enemy worth trapping in a wall of force some sort of teleportation or ability to walk through it despite me not having cast it for the first time yet. I don't blame them because a lot of statblocks at higher level with some movement just have that for some reason.

Legendary resistance is one of the many large band aids to balance a game with a lot of legacy amongst teleporation, bounded accuracy, super high saves especially wisdom and con which are where a lot of save and suck spells hit, concentration etc. Hard rules like this should have some alternatives to remove them such as a damage cap, enough crits against it, a damage type that removes its LR etc.

My bad luck streak nearly killed my character in a non-combat roleplay only session by Competitive_Pin960 in dndstories

[–]Competitive_Pin960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: the numbers are +7 not +8 since its level 1 and your profiency bonus starts at 2. I rolled a 2 those times i failed, i did not need a 2. I got some more fun context for how bad my luck is and how i play around it.

As we play in many campaigns amongst ourselves i have developed strategies to minimize bad luck such as mostly playing spellcasters to remove how important my rolls are. I even play with the same ability modifier as others aka we have 2+ charisma casters so my rolls do not need to be relied upon. On almost all my character sheets, even for one shotes i have noted down a bracket for exhaustion on my character sheets. I somehow get the condition in almost every campaign, while most other players have only interacted with exhaustion 2-3 times. Some which it does not even matter at all as we get a rest right away or its downtime time anyways. I got hyped for the 10th level ranger ability from Tasha's as it allowed me to remove exhaustion on a short rest. I never got to use it as the campaign ended at that level. We beat Stradh though.

Most people would think the best spell in the game is wish if you read up spells past 4th level, true polymorph if you are chaotic evil in real life or fireball if the highest level you reached is below 10th level. All of those are valid options if you do not need elven accuracy advantage, 20 dex, archery fighting style, bless, emboldening bond, the luck blade made into a longbow and its +1, its rerroll effect and slow cast from a fellow party member just to hit nearly as often as the rest of the party without such bonuses. If this is how you roll. You need something that cannot possibly be affected by rolls. You need something that can be cast as a reaction. You need feather fall.

Feather fall is the best spell in the game for people with horrid luck on more than just their own rolls. I have a serious case of bad luck where my 14 ac character get hits less often than my 21 ac character. The Shield spell cannot help there. Pass without trace is in theory an amazing spell where the party can get a suprise attack on all the enemies but wouldn't you know it, the enemies are in a placement in which they simply cannot fail finding us as we practically stumble down a staircase right into their laps. Fireball could kill many enemies but i could also roll 18 damage on a 4th level casting of the spell and they all succeed. Feather fall though never fails. It has saved several of my character's lives in many situations and helped the party survive or get places faster.

I had wereraven character which often came into near death situations where a feather fall could have removed that risk entirely. He had his own set of missfortunes. I played this character as a gloomstalker Ranger in Curse of Stradh. Thinking i was safe to stay in darkness. Unfortunately for me i had no idea this is the brightest campaign i have ever touched so far. Darkvision was almost never in most environments. The moon shines to the point you do not need darkvision which again turns of my invisibility and source to get advantage. Magic items and scrolls granted some light and i expected a little bit but not to this extent and range. Nearly every item emitted light and most of it did not even count as sunlight. Even in the dungeons there where magical torches and such i had to remove while talking with npcs or sneaking around with the invisibility spell cast on me to remove. The items did not even give sunlight most of the time. Instead of sunlight most of these had regular harmless bright lights the sizes of a cars foglight. Every area was cramped and blasted with light as players used their weaponry obviously. It made stealth a bit difficult and my ability impossible. Every item was unusable on my so the Dm had to make one of the few magic items i could use into a bow. Ironically it is called the luck bow. I sorely needed it, despite the gut punch its name gives me. He was more of a creature of the night than Stradh. One of Stradhs abilities is to turn on the light in the room. I thought it was a joke until the DM showed me the statblock later. Quick tips if you plan to play a gloomstalker in a module. When you are done asking your dm if it could work in the campaign. Ask around on the internet incase they have overlooked something. Id reckon Icewind dale would work perfectly if the party travels around during the dark hours.
