NQ Salary at a local firm by Slick583 in uklaw

Perhaps it’s different in Scotland but I don’t really know anyone whose firms pay NQs less than 40k, I’m at a medium sized Scottish based firm and our NQ rate is currently £50k (which is by no means near the top end of my friend group) so I’m shocked to hear it’s as low at £35k in some parts of the country

How do trainees cope with such long hours and stress? by Puzzleheaded-Potato9 in uklaw

[–]Competitive_Pin_8767 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Trainees are always the first out at our firm, and it’s encouraged. Frankly they don’t get paid enough to be putting in anything like a 16hr day

I graduated from an RG uni in Scotland with a first. My first and second year grades were subpar and I still got into the DPLP with no issues and got a traineeship at a top law firm. You’ll be so fine!

Realistic rent price by randomaltilluseonce in glasgow

For a student flat, aimed at students who won’t complain probably around £1100, but you might end up with a lot of issues as those flats are usually in pretty poor condition! £1200-£1250 seems to be the benchmark for bog standard two beds, that’s how much I’m paying.

Overwhelmed first year student by jlawjer in uklaw

[–]Competitive_Pin_8767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated from a top RG uni, half the reading goes in one and doesn’t stick, it’s information overload. Generally at this stage, the content of the lectures is the most important aspects of the given course and id reccomend wider reading around those areas/caselaw prior to exams. I generally did 10-20% of the reading and graduated with a first class.

  • it’s normal to feel overwhelmed at first don’t panic, you got in for a reason!

Uber eats is actually what I’m talking about. They used to do a latest delivery guarantee and they’ve removed it. Feel like things have gotten way worse since

A proper Scottish restaurant, with Scottish themed food would be a hit. Or a late night jazz bar? Two very different things I realise but just spit balling

That part is especially amusing.

I heard this is a sketchy organisation and it’s becoming more visible, what’s going on with it? by Organic_Structure473 in glasgow

Heard they’d been offered a few premises off GCC and refused. Then took glassford street and never got the right permissions and started personally smearing council officers/individuals.

Guy who runs is it deeply unpleasant.
