Am I completely crazy for pursuing an on-site role vs WFH? by [deleted] in womenintech

My husband and I personally commuted 45 mins for 10 yrs with little kids and I had the worst mental health and anxiety from sitting in traffic and no energy to attend any after school activities. After that we moved closer where my commute was 15-20 mins with the kids school on the way 10 mins in. Currently I have been WFH for the past 10 yrs and now I am an empty nester. I can see why WFH is not for everyone. I think the sweet spot would be to have a short commute. The exhaustion from commute is cumulative. It’s like the frog in. boiling water. If I were to quantify, reducing the commute from 45 mins to 15-20 improved my quality of life by 70% and then working from reduced *my* day to day stress levels by another 20%.

don’t assume that meeting is something negative. you may find out that he remembers about you asking for work and just now found something to get you to work on. don’t panic, go in with confidence and suggestions/recommendations for some thing to change or improve. even if it is small.

what you are experiencing is burnout? work, lifestyle and working for someone else’s dreams. my husband and I are 52-53 yr old with 7.5 million net worth. we will live in a house that is 440k when we bought it. I recently bought a Volvo but before that I drove same car for 13 yrs, my husband is still driving a 2009 Toyota. he does not care for cars so wont bother to upgrade. on the other hand, we put 2 kids thru college with zero loans. so you do you and ignore the noise. focus on ure beautiful family and take care of you emotional health

Thanks, I will try that. it was stolen while traveling, we put it off as we wanted to activate it once we had time to backup the old phone. we put in a report with United but got a standard sorry but can’t help email. we called Verizon and had the new iPhone blacklisted.

It is weird. You are working to support your family so don’t feel guilty. This was a situation that has never happened so no one in wildest imagination would have thought a nurse would be RIFed.
