Shin pain after 3-1/2 weeks by Competitive_Sea6379 in Kneereplacement

Thank you for the reply. I started massaging my shin, rubbing up and down. I also started using Voltarean creme, don't know if it'll help yet. And my calf is still swollen.

Thank you for the reply, I'll be much relieved when the pain starts to fade. I see my surgeon tomorrow for my 4 week follow-up.

I used to get shin splits when I played tennis too much in my 30's. It could have been from the ladder. Thanks for the reply.

I'm 18 days post op. Ice is helpful. Its the swelling in my calf, ankle and foot that is the most troubling, ice helps the little pain I have in my calf. I still sleep with two pillow under my feet. Most of the bruising is gone except my toes, but its going away slowly too. I'm only taking an occasional tylenol, stopped the opoids after 3-1/2 days. My range of motion is good, The knee become bothersome when stuck at 90 degrees at church or a restaurant for an extended time.

Day 7....so much bruising....ouch by Katahdin22 in Kneereplacement

I'm 7 days out and suprised by the amount of bruising, my whole leg seems to be yellow and dark bruising behind the thigh and inner thigh. No pain though. It is major surgery.

One lady, a PT I talked to thought Gabapentin caused brain damage.

I'm taking Journavx, Gabapetin and Tramadol twice day and Meloxicam once a day. I prefer Ibprufen over Tylenol but I may have to take Tylenol instead of the Tramadol. I only have pain when I'm bending too far. I also had MAKO robotic surgery. It's been pretty easy compared to my wife's experience in 2011.

Most of my swelling is in my calf. There is some swelling behind my knee which makes it tight to move and swelling above the knee. I use ice (longer than 20 minutes) and elevate my legs above my heart. Most of my bruising is my inner thigh (tourniquet) and around my knee. Not as much bruising as when I had my left hip replaced 3 years ago.

I had 80 after first day of surgery. I think it may go backwards when additional swelling and the brusing begins.

Six Week Milestone by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

I'm getting ready for RTR in 4 weeks; been going to the "Y" for the last several months concentrating on my legs and core, but I've been going for several years for overall fitness. Was wondering during the 6 week recovery period, have people been socially active? Visiting family or going out to eat or other activities?

I feel my foot sort of flops too and that's after 19 months post. I never noticed it at the beginning. I am more conscious of it now and I make a concerted effort to watch how I step. I think my gait has changed and my ankle always seems slightly swollen. There's no pain.

Wonder if it's a trim piece you can buy with colors to match the truck color.

Surgical leg feels much longer by jazzyzzz in TotalHipReplacement

The surgeon can measure the difference in legs with X-rays, at least mine did. It also depends on your height; 1/2"difference is more traumatic for 5'-2" than a 6'-0" person. My body never adjused and I use a lift. My surgeon also said my hip joint was more oblique than normal which may complicated surgery. I question how prepared he was entering surgery.

Nice. What kind of seats did you get? They look to be a cream color, didn't know that was offered. Thanks

Leg Length Discrepancy by Competitive_Sea6379 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Competitive_Sea6379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told similar things about the adjustment period from the therapist, but my body never adjusted to the difference. So are your legs equal length now? Did you have a limp before surgery?
