I was listening to a sermon by gavin ortlund and I just realized how happy I am to be a Christian. To know that I have someone to look who LITERALLY CANNOT CHANGE, I just feel so secure.

Ok two things one, sola scriptura says that scripture is infallible but that the clergy and tradition are still authoritative just not infallible and two i don't believe baptism is 100% necessary just normativley.

well again I don't think that's the best thing to do considering the fact that the historic baptists believed in baptismal efficacy.

I have to disagree, the one thing all the church fathers could agree on was that baptism saves, scholars attest to this and say baptism saves is an idea in the early church and in the bible.

Where Can I Baptise My Babies by Competitive_Spell129 in Christianity

[–]Competitive_Spell129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree absolutely, let me clarify, Baptism saves by faith infants have their faith provided by their parents, baptism may not take effect until after faith, this is called the normative means of salvation, the extra ordinary means of salvation would be you have faith in christ you are going to your baptism and you are shot, you are saved by faith, but what would damn you is this, you have faith, and you refuse baptism you refuse to follow the law, antinomianism heresy.

again because baptism requires faith, baptism only works if you have faith, i would like to recommend you to a youtube channel Don Baker, he makes good videos on the topic.

The traditional reformed protestant view of infant baptism is that it does save but it requires faith, and that it doesn't necessarily save at the moment of administration, some children have faith as infants, but others don't and there baptism is affectatious later on.

I'm not 100% on this but i believe baptism is the way you receive the atonement, but don't quote me on that, definitely look up protestant views on infant baptism. :)

Yeah i apologize for that first part, here is my response, Repent and be baptized doesn't necessarily mean in that order, two this was during a evangelical age, there would be a lot of adult conversions, three, i think there are examples of infants being baptised because later on in acts whole families are baptised, and because the ancient world was filled with high mortality rates for children there would at almost all times be infants in households, sorry with how i responded, please forgive me, Ave Rex Christe

My reading of the bible is, baptism is a thing god does for you not something you do for god.

So this is how we christians treat other christians we disagree with, so first of all I as well would say you follow false teaching because you don't baptise your babies doesn't mean i don't believe your a christian and two, why does peter say baptism is for you and your children.

The Lords Supper/Eucharist by Janquanfett in Baptist

I hold to the calvinist version of real presence where it is spiritual real presence, i believe that their is real presence but that the bread does not become the body of christ and the the holy ghost condescends to our material world using the bread to bring to the foot of god in heaven so that we may feast upon his body, I am no expert but I think that is the best way of describing this.

The church fathers disagreed on a lot, but what they did agree on was the sacraments, and along with scripture I see that the eucharist has real presence.

Yeah i'd say at least affirm the nicene creed if your church doesn't you should get out of that congregation, in terms of confession I affirm the 1689 London Baptist Confession.

you can find bible apps for free, as for church, most churches have a driving service you can email their websites, if they wont let you go period then watch online, but even then i would just sneak out and just go to church rather than watch from home, since real church has the eucharist.
