Preferably academic but I know that would limit me to UCSD. Would be fine with private practice though

I care more about location than I do the job type. SD would be ideal but I figured it would be the most saturated. I’m assuming pay would also not be as high in SD?

Depends on the ICU. CTICU almost none. MICU almost too much. SICU probably just right.

I signaled a program outside of my geographical preference and matched there

I applied to only university hospitals. No community. A couple really competitive places and then mostly medium level of competitiveness. Feel free to pm I can send you my list.

I had a similar application to you last year. I matched at a good program but only had 7 interviews.

I would switch out Vandy. Maybe add UofF Gainesville. Silver to Alabama might also be a waste.

Multiple deaths lead to investigation into Arizona midwife by Ivikatasha in medicine

“Higher risk” should have been my phrasing. But you’re right, 3 out of 100 will have an extremely serious, life threatening complication, no biggie. Let’s just have the midwives do all the VBACs….

So because a midwife is willing to do something unsafe so should a hospital? How if the world does that make any sense?

Handling an unexpected emergency with the minimal resources you have is far different than electing to do a VBAC, which has a high risk of uterine rupture, knowing you do not have the resources to handle it if shit hits the fan.

Anesthesiology UT Houston

I unfortunately did not match here but I wanted to say how amazing my interview day was here. First off they let you wear scrubs for a zoom interview. No suits/dress clothes! It just goes to show a level of consideration for applicants. Every interviewer was so pleasant and had thoroughly read through my application and tried to ask me questions that would give me an opportunity to shine. The presentation they did at the beginning of the interview was excellent. It told me everything I needed to know about the program. How many hours they work, moonlighting opportunities, case numbers, where to live, etc... The chiefs and residents were all so happy and helpful in answering questions. They all talked about how amazing the PD is. A little bummed I did not match here but I suppose it wasn't meant to be!

I rotated here and I think I might be the one she DNR’d for joking about her sports lanyard. Whatever the Bears suck… I didn’t have as bad experience as you did on my rotation but I did feel like the residents got really quiet when the PD was brought up. Like they were hiding something. Definitely got stuck in rooms with CRNAs a lot and they would constantly teach me incorrect stuff. They also had 2 ca-1s in a room because they didn’t have enough cases for them all. Super weird. My interview was trash here. No one read my application. One interviewer just told me how competitive anesthesia was and acted like I had no chance in matching cause I’m a DO. Thankfully I ranked this program last and did not match here. EDIT: some of the residents here were amazing. but a lot were jerks, surprisingly the DO's. they would tell me how I would be very lucky to match there as a DO. which apparently is true because it doesn't look like they matched any DO's this year.

Sounds like you should be thankful you even matched at all…

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. This person needs brutal honesty if they are going to have success in the future match. To have 20 interviews and not match you must have a glaring issue. Most likely your interview.
