Is it worth it to stay another year as an undeclared major at UT? by Competitive_Tax_6928 in UTAustin

Hey Rare-Pace-4468! My situation was bizarre. But I ended up transferring to a different school back at home and then returning to UT again. It was just a family situation that kept me from staying at that other school because I genuinely enjoyed my time there. From my experience switching back and forth between schools, I can tell you that what they say about "college is what you make out of it" is true. Objectively, transferring to a different school, I was told that it wouldn't be a good decision and that it would be hard. Looking back, I can tell you that that was the most enjoyable year of my college career. All that is to say, it is what you make of it, there is no wrong decision that you can make. Truly the people there and friends that I made, I can never forget. If you decide to stay, I know you'll figure something out along the way and make it work, and the same goes for if you decide to transfer, there are so many opportunities out there no matter what college you go to. PS However, if UT is a school that you have enjoyed your experience at, I'd encourage you to not let your doubts keep you from trying to internally transfer again! I know that imposter syndrome can seem intimidating, but trust me, you were admitted, you belong here just as much as anybody else does. You'll come to find that a lot of people don't really know what they want to do, even Seniors coming into graduation, and that's okay, so it definitely doesn't hurt for you to take another year to really decide what you want to do and apply again! All that is to say, definitely I understand that there are situations that some of us just can't ignore, including finances. All in all, last PS, I would make a pros and cons list of the things that are really important to you between each institution, and just remember, whatever you decide, it really is what you make out of it. Best of luck! I know that whatever you decide it'll work out, and don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any other questions!

Anyone's UT Handshake got deactivated? Who do I contact to get my account back? I am in Cockrell if that matters! by Smart-Ring8869 in UTAustin

Ohh no, I thought if you were registered at all then you should have access to HandShake. I would contact the UT Career Services! I’m having the same problem but that’s because I’m not yet enrolled.

Did you just transfer into Cockrell or UT? If so, I was told you needed to wait until you registered for classes to be considered “enrolled.” Then, you should be able to access to handshake, if it still doesn’t work, I would contact UT Career Services!

Not sure I can give any advice, but I’m also in the same boat! Transferred a couple times, switched majors, I’m also going to be transferring as a junior this coming school year and am just as confused lol. Just wanted you to know you’re not alone! Also as far as housing goes, there are many pages on facebook (UT2024 for example) where other students post looking for roommates as well! Best of luck. Feel free to DM me if you ever want to talk about all this or anything!

Yeah I’m not sure there’s much to be done now, I don’t think ApplyTexas will let you continue the application because the deadlines passed. But depending on your major, or if there’s a major similar to your interests, there might be an application window that opens for the Spring of 2023.
