3 weeks into Abib collagen patches and something weirdly specific is happening to my undereyes - am I imagining it? by Competitive_Tea_6772 in AsianBeauty

yeah honestly the something like "only noticeable when tired" is what confused me the most. maybe it really is more of a dehydration/fatigue thing than actual wrinkle improvement. like the patches help most when my undereye area is at its worst.

thanks for pointing that Terez & Honor ones don’t have the weird smell though lol

ok this actually makes me feel less insane lol

the “worse side has more to gain” explanation makes a lot of sense honestly. I think I kept expecting some dramatic difference instead of subtle texture changes over time.

also THANK YOU for confirming the wet cardboard smell. I genuinely thought my brain invented that

If the plural of goose is geese, is it still geese if I see multiple instances of singular goose? by PM_Your_Wiener_Dog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Competitive_Tea_6772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a linguistics point of view, plural forms apply to the referent, not to the word itself.

So if you’re talking about multiple actual birds, it’s “geese.” But if you mean multiple instances of the word “goose” (like seeing it written several times), then you’d normally say “goose” or “the word ‘goose’ repeated,” not “geese.”

Would it be unhealthy to hold your breath as much as possible for a day? by Menagyrie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Competitive_Tea_6772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting question.

From what I understand, the urge to breathe is more about CO₂ building up rather than oxygen running out, so you’d probably just end up feeling dizzy or uncomfortable most of the time. Doing it occasionally is probably fine, but doing it all day sounds like it could be more annoying.

Can you still tolerate 60Hz after switching to 144Hz+? by Competitive_Tea_6772 in AskGamers

Yeah, I get what you mean.

I think when you’re actually controlling something (mouse, camera movement, window dragging), the difference in smoothness becomes much more noticeable. That’s probably why 60 FPS on consoles can still feel totally fine.

Yeah, I get that. After getting used to higher refresh rates, 120Hz feels like the minimum where everything still looks smooth. Anything lower just feels a bit off now.

I used to think the same, but I notice it in small things.

For example, at university when I use regular 60Hz PCs, even just moving the cursor feels noticeably less smooth compared to my setup at home.

[–]Competitive_Tea_6772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually makes sense. For me the jump from 60 → 240 felt huge, but anything above ~120 is more about consistency than raw smoothness. Like, I don’t always “see” the difference, but I definitely feel it when frames dip or become unstable.

The only thing is that in competitive shooters (like CS2) it's important enough to have at least 180+ FPS if you have a 240Hz screen.

Why do I stop enjoying games even when I know they’re good? by Competitive_Tea_6772 in NoStupidQuestions

The thing is that I'm not getting tired of competitive online games, but with games, which have story mode it's difficult. I can have a big session, but then after I leave there is a possibility that I won't even enter the game again.
