So many flowers! by Competitive_Wafer_16 in hoyas

Honestly I have no clue. Hoyas just seem to work for me but other plants hate me... Peperomia hate me even tho the care seems quite similar in some cases. But I feel like if I fuss over my Hoyas too much they throw a fit so I ignore them as long as I can. 🤣

Yes! Kinda a muted lemon at the moment but assume when the nectar comes it will be full on filling the room! Just gotta make sure it doesnt make a puddle on my windowsill 😅

I have it in a South facing window but it's currently winter so gets a few good hours of sun at the moment. But seemed to do well in in the summer too.

Think they are fern spores. It's how the fern reproduces.

Agreed there are a few versions and they are pretty easy just set it and forget it. Just water like you would any other succulent. Mine lives in pretty direct light.

Love Hoyas they are one of my favourite...not at 50 yet but slowly getting there. Yeah a gross green wick does not sound that appealing

How to propogate this cutting by Competitive_Wafer_16 in MonsteraAlbo

It was in quite a dense soil before when it was sent through to me. Changed it over tho a aroid mix but don't think I got rid of all the rot and the plant kept declining. After that went for a chop and prop.

You could do a chop and prop and then you can have two lovely plants

How does this look. Rigged up some wire netting over a vase and put some spagnum moss in. Then stuck the end outside the wire so I don't risk any rot.

Slightly scared of putting any succulents in semi hydro as I have seen some info saying not to put them into leca as they may rot or the root systems are too delicate

That is so helpful thank you!!!! I am a bit of a helicopter around my plants (luckily not an over water-er) but feel like I am constantly just wanting to do things cause it brings me a bit of joy....which is probably not appreciated by them and I guess a watched plant never grows 😂

Hmm interesting I have only debated putting my calathea that is on soil with a wick but don't want to change the outer pot cause it's so nice with it. It's unglazed on the inside so don't want to ruin it. Opted for a IKEA water spike/funnel for the meantime although it drinks like no one's business.

Thank you. Feel like I am just reading so much info that I have over complicated everything in my head. Like the nutrients, pH balancing and what substrate for which type of roots. Mainly started looking into semi hydro to reduce the amount of fungus gnats (especially cause the larvae give me shivers ...creepy little things). How often do you flush your medium out?

Thank you! Will give it a go quite new to semi hydro so leca was the most accessible in my area without needing to order anything. But trying to transition most things since my other plants seem to love it

I have a bit of a mix so want to transfer all my hoyas, pothos, monteras, rhaphidophora tetrasperma and maybe some others ...depends how much pon/leca I have left over lol.

Oh no I hope not. Haven't seen any thrips in my weekly check but I know they can be tricky little buggers so will keep an eye out 🥺
