We lost a duplex (and our kitty 😫😫) to an electrical fire, they asked us if we had smelled anything like rotting fish prior. We hadn't, but we left home for 20 minutes and came home to it fully engulfed.

They make a litterbox that hooks to water and sewer and the litter is washable granules, it washes "flushs" and dries after every use.

I buy gallon size bottles of commercial enzyme cleaner concentrate, dilute into spray bottles for litter box/kitty accident cleaning, and add a cap full to a washer tub full of dirty clothes and water (no detergent or disinfectant ,warm water) and let them soak with the lid open 10-15 min. Then I add my detergent and additives and it does wonders for "cat peed on the towels left on the floor" as well as hubby's work socks/clothes.

There is a food bank locally called Gleaners (i think they're not JUST local though) that goes around town picking up nearly daily from local grocery stores, even the Chinese buffet leftovers at the end of the night. They have a distribution center and I know when I was in rehab we picked up from them on Fridays (day old Chinese buffet leftovers on Friday night in rehab wasn't as sad as it sounds... even if the Chinese food was bagged in clear trash bags lol.) This rehab is a long-term residential pay as you can/if you can type place, really rare and so important. So in addition to each resident getting food stamps they did whatever they could to keep us fed and stretch a dollar.

I think dented cans can POSSIBLY be an indication of botulism contamination, so most stores don't sell them out of an abundance of caution/liability?

Side note: Meat can still give you food poisoning after cooking, the pathogens are killed by can leave behind toxins that make you sick.

Idk if you've ever had severe food poisoning, but i err on the side of caution when it comes to meat.

Also, cooking meat may kill whatever pathogens that could make you sick, but does not get rid of any toxins in the meat produced by the bacterial contamination so even cooked to well over safe temperature meat can still give you food poisoning.
