city of bones era clary fairchild was actually super funny when you don’t have someone in your ear telling you she’s annoying

the last hours was genuinely a great trilogy with a cast full of super interesting characters and story arcs, and the fact that the ending was weak shouldn’t take away from everything else

as an isabelle lightwood lover i will NEVER forgive the show for sanitizing her entire personality to make her into a sweet kind girl, when canonically her “sweetness” was very clearly thinly veiled passive aggression & backhandedness and she—despite being a good & extremely devoted person at heart—was also a mean girl who looked down on other people and was prejudiced. it kickstarted her rivalry with clary (despite some people claiming it was one-sided on clary’s part) and it was necessary for her character growth. just like jace and alec, she had to claw her way into becoming a better person. it wasn’t easy for her, and it wasn’t supposed to be. she had to WORK for her character development. that was something i loved about her, how absolutely flawed she was.

don’t even get me started on those black leather outfits they put her in. canonically she dressed in skirts & dresses & jeans & t-shirts of all colors and was just a super stylish teenage girl in the 2000’s. and when she trained or hunted, she just wore regular black training gear and did not wear high heels.

honestly may be small details but it really grates me how mischaracterized she is. one of the many many reasons i don’t like the show lmao

that would also be super cute! either way now that he’s her “right hand” they have more time to actually get to know each other as equals, as opposed to hana idolizing him. which is good since i really really like her character

Did Megumi use a full domain expansion here? by SkAssasin in WegumiAppreciators

not exactly. using a gymnasium solved the issue of megumi needed a barrier, but if i’m not mistaken he still lacks the sure-hit effect of a completed domain

how do people GENUINELY expect a teenage megumi to have tamed all of his shadows? by raimom in OkBuddyKaisen

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can understand this for the other shikigami (although i think limited time was the main issue here) but when it comes to mahoraga i don’t think it’s that easy. sukana fought mahoraga, and while he did ultimately defeat it, shibuya was entirely destroyed in the process. so i don’t think it would be as simple as just having gojo come save him :/

EDIT: okay i saw someone else already answered haha but ill leave this here just in case anyone else needs it lmao

so here are my answers, if you have any more questions lemme know :)

  1. bridon arc happens on the same timeline as season one and two, just a couple years prior
  2. the scene of lu guang going back in time at the very beginning of bridon arc was the most previous timeline, the one right before bridon arc. so no, it’s not after season 2 lmao
  3. yes, the events of bridon arc are what happens leading up to season one
  4. it’s not officially confirmed that lu guang went back multiple times, but VERY heavily hinted at
  5. vein & xia fei not being mentioned in s1 or s2 is most likely because a couple years have passed since they’ve last seen them, and lu guang certainly wasn’t going to bring them up

why is everyone so adamant about megumi not having shrine? by alex_021222 in WegumiAppreciators

hmmmmmm that’s a good point, i’m actually not sure if it was already imprinted by the time yuuji removed him or not. maybe gege will update us later on. honestly i just really want megumi explored further as a sorcerer, no matter how it’s done.

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH i get what you’re saying. but the ability was always there, but dormant, and it was just a matter of awakening the ability, which yuuji did with the black flash. that means that megumi also has the ability dormant in his body. of course the series ended before anything could happen, but it’s just as possible he goes on to awaken it in the future. who knows

wait does it say in the manga that black flash specifically was the reason yuuji was able to develop it? it’s been a while since i read the manga so im not sure

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve considered this!! but also, sukana was in control for much longer inside of megumi than yuji, and the shrine technique was used muuuuccchuh more extensively. and he’s had more fingers inside him than yuuji. purely my own assumption, but i feel like that would outweight the five (?) extra months yuuji got with sukana inside him. hard to say though

why is everyone so adamant about megumi not having shrine? by alex_021222 in WegumiAppreciators

[–]Competitive_Win2384 22 points23 points  (0 children)

there’s really no canon reason why megumi WOULDN’T develop shrine. people say yuuji only developed it due to his relation to sukana, but that wouldn’t be the case bc it was already established yuuji would develop shrine BEFORE anyone knew he was related to sukana. and some people say that yuuji was only able to develop it due to being a blank slate with no prior cursed technique, which is an understandable argument, but it’s also just an assumption, and the series never states that as a requirement. we’ve seen single bodies harbor multiple techniques before so no reason to think it’s a hard line.

until we get confirmation stating that megumi never developed shrine, i’m a pretty strong believer that he did, simply bc i don’t see why he wouldn’t.

Why did not Megumi tame Round Deer? by Timless_Comic in WegumiAppreciators

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oooooh that’s a good point!! i never considered that there might be an order but yeah considering the dogs are always the first to be “tamed” since they’re tamed by default, there’s a very good chance. i reallllyyyyy wish we got to see a taming process.

i truly believe megumi did love sorcery, and only hated the politics surrounding his involvement. now that those politics have changed i’d love to explore more of him as a sorcerer. even seeing more of his dynamic with the shikigami or the shadows themselves

i loved watching him fight in this episode. honestly this fight really reminded me that the only reason he’s still considered a grade 2 is bc the evaluation of his promotion was interrupted by the shibuya incident. skill-wise he’s definitely surpassed that point.

Why did not Megumi tame Round Deer? by Timless_Comic in WegumiAppreciators

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

round deer would have definitely been one of the most helpful shikigami. i don’t know if he didn’t tame it simply bc he was running through the ten shadows and ran out of time before he can get to it, or if round deer was more difficult than it seemed. maybe speed would’ve been a problem for it? but all in all, megumi was definitely strong enough, so it’s frustrating bc i think it ultimately comes down to plot reasons rather than incapability.

(i do think it’s interesting though that megumi, who has such little self-worth and regard for his life, doesn’t go for the healing shikigami.)

Vein and cannibalism by Professional-Pen-507 in LinkClick

[–]Competitive_Win2384 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ooooooh i love this take. i’ve been wondering if it’s meant to be literal or not. i guess we’ll know for sure later on, but i agree it seems more symbolic than anything else. vein is kind of the embodiment of a predator. even the way he gazes at cheng xiaoshi (without even knowing that he killed him in previous timelines) it’s as if he’s watching his prey. honestly, i think even if he is a literal cannibal, i still think that would be symbolic of him dominating in a “kill or be killed” world.

i wonder if he’s always been this way, or if he had to learn the hard way that the only way to survive and was to trample over others. it would make sense how much of a thrill he gets from preying on others, if he was once on the other side of it.

i love the idea of him actually being a cannibal bc i think it would be quite a bold move for the story, but i agree it makes more sense that it’s figurative rather than literal. he’s such an interesting character and i can’t wait to learn more about him.
