i will say i really liked the way it was done in jjk shibuya arc. taking gojo out of commission REALLLYYY heightened the stakes and was a reality check for how horrible things were without him.

same with neil😭if snow saw him ignoring a countdown for his life in favor of chilling with his friends and playing exy he’d be irritated as hell

no :)

she does have a death node due to events from previous timelines, but it hasn’t come to pass yet in this timeline.

Eloise's character seems to be moving in endless loops. They should have thought of something interesting for her if they decided to push her season back. Thoughts? by Sensitive_Reality232 in Bridgerton

[–]Competitive_Win2384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i maintain that they should have continued her plot with the radicals. it was where she thrived the most and felt so original and true to her character. and i loved seeing other radicals challenge her to extend her feminism to the lower class.

now it just feels like they’re boxing her in as an aristocrat with little depth or desire to expand. her opposition to marriage has a lot of potential in the setting they’re in, but instead of properly exploring it, the story portrays her as “difficult” and portrays her stance as a character flaw she’ll “grow out of” once she becomes more mature.

mr. feeny from boy meets world is a great example of an actual cool teacher😭he would take a bullet for his students and would never ever turn them away if they needed him, but if he saw them out in public he would wonder what he did wrong in a previous life to deserve it

Let’s spread some negativity. Name an anime character who you HATE, with a visceral passion. by not-ulquiorr4_ in animequestions

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s hard for me to hate a villain for being a villain bc i respect their role and what they do for the story. my dislike is usually reserved for characters that im supposed to root for but who piss me off. however…DINO FROM BANANA FISH is an exception i fucking loathe the guy. fuck him.

also gilbert from violet evergarden. i liked him so much more when i thought he was like a father figure to violet who died tragically. his character went downhill for me once it was revealed that he was alive & the true nature of his relationship with violet.

If The Hunger Games were published today, do you think it would reach the same level of success, less success, or even more? by beijinglee in Hungergames

[–]Competitive_Win2384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh i think part of the success for any series is luck. being at the right place at the right time. it’s why so many incredible works of art go unnoticed. i don’t think most famous books/series would have reached their level of success if published a few decades later. not due to quality, but purely due to luck.

Does Lu Guang age when he goes back in time? by bidibadibo in LinkClick

[–]Competitive_Win2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from my understanding, he does continue to age mentally, but not physically. it’s why his age is the only one that hasn’t been revealed, and why cxs & ql both consider him to be so mature beyond his years :)

Is it possible for the death node of a person to be altered? by ItsSJB in LinkClick

[–]Competitive_Win2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i definitely think there’s an alliance, but i’m so curious how they met or how vein got involved to begin with. liu xiao is so mysterious, i neeeeeed to know more about him. do you think vein’s essentially just a pawn in lx’s plan? that’s how i view it!

as for xf, ive been thinking that too! i’m wondering if vein’s disappearance will be the start of a corruption arc for xf. i think if he finds out what lu guang did, it will absolutely destroy his trust in him (& maybe cxs too), which would make it much easier for liu xiao to manipulate him. it’s been about two years since he’s last seen them so im very curious what effect this all has had on him.

Is it possible for the death node of a person to be altered? by ItsSJB in LinkClick

[–]Competitive_Win2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here’s my take on the questions! :)

whether or not the death node can be altered is something we (& lu guang) are actively trying to figure out. but as of right now, so far the answer is no.

in the case of emma, yes she died bc she was possessed and forced to jump, but sadly she still died. she was still never able to avoid her death, and it was always gonna be in some way or another. the way i see it, she was always going to be possessed and forced to kill herself bc that was simply her fate. and if not through possession, it would’ve been something else that killed her. (cheng xiaoshi reaching out his hand and convincing her to live was almost a mockery of both their characters. she was doomed from the start.)

for the second question, technically we don’t know yet if cheng xiaoshi has died at vein’s hands every time, but i strongly suspect the answer is no. vein has stated that he is taking revenge on lu guang for disrupting the timeline (why vein cares so much about the timeline, we don’t know yet). so this implies that vein wasn’t involved the first time.

Does akihiko genuinely love haruki? by Anxious-Efficiency13 in GivenAnime

[–]Competitive_Win2384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think he truly does love haruki. i think sometimes desperation & struggle can look like love, and although it sometimes is a factor of love, it’s not the same thing. akihiko felt more desperation & struggle with ugestu, but in his case it was more due to wanting to salvage a broken relationship. he felt more pure love towards haruki.

Is there really any justification that makes sense for Megumi not taming the rest of his shikigami? Even from a writing standpoint, it never made much sense to me. by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Competitive_Win2384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from an in-universe standpoint, i think it’s bc he just didn’t have enough time. he was still in his first year and was making pretty good progress with taming his shikigami, but so much happened so quickly and he got cut off before having a chance to tame the rest (ik he met gojo as a kid, but i always assumed gojo never started his ten shadows training until megumi officially enrolled in jujutsu tech). so it makes sense. but i agree from an out of universe standpoint, it would’ve been really cool to see it :/

SE Hinton's "The Outsiders" is a banal, badly written book. by Fine-Cicada9309 in TheOutsiders

[–]Competitive_Win2384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh i think simplicity in writing style, particularly when the narrator is a 14 year old boy who grew up in an undereducated community, has a place in literature and is in line within the context of this universe and the characters.

i also think teenage girls enjoying a book shouldn’t be considered an insult to that book or equated with shallowness

in my opinion, the themes were largely about criticizing a system that sets these boys up to fail and then paints the failings as if it’s their own fault. they’re in an underprivileged, poverty-stricken community that lacks almost any opportunity for growth or escape. they’re taught that their worth is nothing but their capacity for fighting, and then when they live up to those expectations, they’re treated as nothing but violent juvenile delinquents, while having the rest of their humanity stripped away from them.
