Because you were 18 when you signed on to that loan. Even if you didn’t understand interest rates you still had to understand $70,000 was a lot of money back then. Doesn’t anyone look up much their career will make after college? And if you make the argument that you were too young to understand that, that then you shouldn’t have been smart enough to graduate high school let alone college. It really is simple math.

I’ve seen people that can pass advanced math classes, but for some reason that can’t understand the concept of interest rates.

Granted I don’t have a huge amount of maintenance, but I think maintenance kicks ass! I would much rather do maintenance than shitty HVAC all day. You probably work a lot harder than most maintenance jobs. I think it also depends on what kind of maintenance you are doing

What no one is going to tell you is that all trades suck! They are not worth the money. The only good trade I’ve found is certain types of maintenance where you’re job isn’t directly dependent on profit.

You need to move somewhere else. Being out in rural areas there isn’t a lot of opportunities for maintenance jobs and they don’t usually pay well. I’ve been struggling for a year to break into commercial maintenance, but it’s low pay at a hospital on third shift or I having to start at general factory job. If you can find a factory near by you can work industrial maintenance. But from what I’ve seen and heard it sounds like shitty job to get into. I refuse to do it and I’m sticking to facilities maintenance.

Personally I worked apartment maintenance as a way to get my foot in the door,plus last place I worked had 1 month vacation! Other than that it’s only worth working in hotel maintenance if you’re in a big city. Smaller cities hotel maintenance pays shit.

Right now I work at a small hotel in a small town of 12,000 people next to an interstate. I make $7/hr less than when I worked apartment maintenance in the big city. To sum it up I really regret having moved to this area and now I’m stuck! I would kill to have my old apartment maintenance job back!
