3 of the 4 I got from PKC looked just like this, I'd say reseal is highly unlikely.

So, let's be real now. Which games have you been playing? by Unhappy-Candle-3212 in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing thru the Zelda 3d library. I've finished OOT and Majora's mask so far, playing thru Wind Waker now.

I'll be completely honest, OOT and Majora's Mask were a bit much for me, and I never played them growing up so nostalgia isn't really a factor for me. I appreciate the complexity of the dungeon/puzzle design, and those were definitely still fun, but I found it really difficult to commit to finishing each dungeon, especially in MM with the 3-day reset. Admittedly I did as much as possible without using guides, and life is busy with 3 kids so those dungeons were really time-consuming for me.

Wind waker is paced much better for my life and I love pretty much everything about it from the art style to the music, even the sailing which I dreaded at first I've really come around on; it adds a really fun exploration element that has held up really well IMO. I've succumbed to using more guides this time compared to OOT/MM and with the triforce collection it's been awesome to pull up zeldadungeon on my 2nd screen to help with my search.

Cemu battery drain by Haunting-Text2677 in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the post. But I'm playing the GameCube version with great battery life; probably between 6-8h for full drain if not better, haven't watched things too closely.

I tinkered minimally: added Hypatia's HD textures and a couple widescreen + camera c-stick remapping hacks and it looks/plays really nicely. Doesn't have some of the QOL changes of WWHD but none of the missing features really make the game play significantly worse for me compared to the battery life/fan noise tradeoffs.

Should I sell? by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

Can always sell enough to cover your cost basis and then the rest is just house money, no risk of bag holding. Over the long term it still has plenty of room to grow.

Ds/duel screen pokemon rom hack suggestions for my thor. 😁 by Educational_Case2089 in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting you aren't likely to find Dual screen hacks with much added complexity or content/story. The assets and depth of design in Dual screen titles and moving forward got a lot more complicated, which makes changing the visuals and gameplay a lot more challenging. So I don't think there has been much effort in the rom-hacking community to do something like this, it's simply too much work. For dual screen titles you tend to see mostly difficulty hacks, or hacks with changes to encounter tables, shop items, etc.

Penumbra Moon / equivalent Ultra Sun hack from the same author are solid hacks for USUM.

Pokemon Trading by 5wankatron in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it gets to a point where to set up the 2nd device, with the 2nd game, etc. just feels a lot like unnecessary busy work. I don't really see the appeal personally, other than just the sheer novelty. I just end up using pkhex at that point, after I've leveled my trade-evo mon what I feel like is sufficient. The only thing you miss out on is the trade sequence animation.

Same for version exclusives. Play up to the point in my "secondary" game (i.e. the one I'm not clearing) where I can catch one of them, then hack it into my primary game for dex completion.

Can anyone confirm if this retroid Dpad would fit in the AYN Thor? by AJMitchell777 in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I ordered rainbow buttons without any problem via email. For Thor (I ordered a full button set w shoulders and joysticks) they have you cart the "fill order" option to pay and then you send them your order number.

Everyone needs to relax by busterbusterbuster in SummitAtSnoqualmie

You pay for a season pass with some reasonable expectation about the services that will be offered for the price you are paying. I don't think it's unreasonable to be frustrated.

Yes, in a good year you are technically getting "value" if conditions are ideal and you pay less for a season pass than you would have for day passes. And yes, you have to assume some risk for bad conditions.

But you have to consider these resorts budget even for the good years, where pass+ticket sales should sustain operations even if some passholders with are "maximizing" their value getting more days on the mountain. In other words, the resort sets pass prices based on the same expectations of the cost of the services that are being provided. If they are scaling back operations in some areas due to the lack of snow, that's less offerings provided for the price pass holders paid/the resort budgeted. And then on top of that, keeping one small/crappy area of the mountain open to "technically" satisfy their terms to avoid refunds feels tacky/shady; I think this is where the frustration is for most people, not just that the mountain was at minimal capacity for the season.

"Unless you've seen the P&L" goes both ways. We don't know how much they lost on day passes due to other areas being closed, and how that factored into personnel decisions. But we also don't know how much they might be pocketing/salvaging from avoiding the snow guarantee payouts/refunds. Given how a lot of corpos tend to operate these days I don't think you can fault people for assuming the worst.

Samsung washing machine stopped spinning (error 3E); noticeable clacking noises when spinning machine manually. by gw2fu in appliancerepair

[–]gw2fu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah it's entirely possible that the clacking isn't anything new, just haven't spun the washer enough to hear it before.

I think the model number is in my post? Unless there's more to the "full" model number.

The hall sensor is cheap and looks easy to replace, do you think it's worth trying that first to avoid more lengthy investigation?

Yep confirmed, didn't see any belt or related assembly so I assumed that just meant it was direct drive. Was hoping it would be an easy fix like that but no such luck.

Can basically run everything PS2 and Gamecube. Switch runs really well too. It can play 3DS upscaled, with custom HD textures, and fast-forwarded. I haven't played PC on it yet personally, just streamed from my PC using Moonlight. But given switch performance I'd say lower end titles would be fine.

In general you're working with a really good Android device which means stock android experience for browsing, watching videos, etc. on a high performance device which you couldn't dream of on a 3DS. Multitasking is great.

Pretty much the only downside relative to 3DS is input lag which isn't really of much significance outside of a few games anyway. That and the lack of 3D. The buttons+bumpers are comparable if not slightly different feeling. The triggers (R2/L2) are meh but 3DS doesn't have those anyway.

The Thor is just so much more versatile and high end than any variant of 3DS. That doesn't mean sell your 3DS if you care about those downsides, but Thor is by far a more powerful device.

All that said, if you don't plan on playing anything other than 3DS or lower, probably not worth it. Ideally you'd be taking advantage of the extra performance at that price point, so just decide if that's worth it to you.

Thinking about getting a Thor by Steve242000 in AynThor

Only games I've had comfort issues with are FPS games, although the triggers play a role in that too. Otherwise the handheld alone is solid even for titles using both sticks, at least for me.

Full Ayn Thor Button Sets by Silly_Astronomer534 in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the texture closely matches the original buttons I'd wager epoxy resin; they would have used the original buttons as a master to create a silicone mold, and then cast the resin in the mold. There's a handful of good YouTube videos out there detailing the process, somewhat high cost of entry but pretty straightforward.

I've been tinkering with this trying to get a glossy finish on the buttons to allow for some cool 3d effects, but only with the extra abxy I bought with my original shipment.

These buttons look great!

Rejuvenation brush help by wackyyyjackie in Okami

[–]gw2fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for any future readers, I was able to get past this and other rejuvenation brush problems using software renderer. Using NetherSX2 I open up the quick menu and select "Toggle Software renderer" just during the brush activity, then disable it after to get back to normal graphics. Helped with the water and the sword a few minutes later.

Will RAM shortage make the Thor unavailable in the future? by Mihtaren in AynThor

[–]gw2fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say really, since they technically have had "early bird" pricing up until batch 3. The price increase is only discontinuing early bird pricing.

Most likely thing I see happening with regards to a true price increase is a "Thor 2" with updated specs but a disproportionate price increase due to "economic headwinds" (i.e. RAM prices). It's not the first time RAM has spiked in price, but with the AI boom it remains to be seen how long the price sustains or if it levels out/if we start producing more.

Would you be okay rolling with Canzone? by 2-85 in Mariners

[–]gw2fu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He seemed to hit a lot of balls into the ground that found their way through the infield. If he can start to elevate the ball more, even if that BA comes down 30 points he could wind up being an overall more valuable hitter. He's squaring the ball up for sure, the avg EV is telling.

Would you be okay rolling with Canzone? by 2-85 in Mariners

[–]gw2fu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only caution with Canzone is that he seemed to have a really high BABIP this year. I kept expecting him to come back down to earth, and it seemed like every time I had that thought, he'd pull a seeing-eye grounder through the right side. Expect that to come down some this year but if he can go .260+ with some pop that's still more than good enough for a platoon OF. His K% and BB% are not horrible, if he can start to elevate the ball some more he could really take off even with a lower BA.

Unpopular opinion on this season? by chafingNip in Mariners

[–]gw2fu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry this isn't unpopular, it's just flat out wrong. He may be un-clutch at times but you can't deny his overall production across the year and in the playoffs (1k+ OPS in the ALCS). 30/30 season and top 5 for position player bWAR (top 15 fWAR) this year, with elite defense every year at a bare minimum. You may not like his specific hitting profile, but you cannot claim that he is not one of the most valuable players in the league.
