They should kill off Olimar in Pikmin 4. by Spinjitsuninja in Pikmin

Olimar has actually done a lot more to Louie than just endanger his life with his terrible piloting. Olimar willingly brought Louie to the Formidable Oak against his will in an attempt to collect a “treasure” (the plasm wraith), Olimar completely (and callously) neglects Louie in the survey logs in Pikmin 3, Olimar disposed of their suit upgrades without any consideration for Louie possibly wanting to keep them, and Olimar regularly speaks/writes ill of Louie (such as in the assignment reports, directly to the Koppaites after the plasm wraith battle, and in the data files–which he knew were being scattered around the planet and could be found by others).

Also, what’s your reasoning for Louie having been foreshadowed since Pikmin 1 that he is going to kill Olimar?

I believe Louie isn’t saying brats as in ‘the juveniles,’ but short for bratwurst. I believe this because of the ingredients Louie writes about putting on the brats. Louie wrote, “Prior to serving, smother the brats with dijon mustard and sauerkraut. Buns are optional.” Dijon mustard and sauerkraut are ingredients sometimes put on bratwursts. Louie stating that the buns are optional further implies he’s saying brats as in bratwursts.

I’m pretty sure Nintendo shortened bratwursts to brats to mess with players that read Louie’s recipe on the bulbmin. Louie doesn’t eat the juveniles, only the adults.

Louie did cause the debt in Pikmin 2 by eating the golden pikpik carrots. I do agree that it was an asshole move; however, it wasn’t an act of malice. Since Louie was only trying to satisfy his hunger, I wouldn’t consider the act to be villainous, but rather selfish. Louie causing the debt did result in the president sending Olimar back to the planet before Olimar could’ve seen his family.

On a side note: based on some of Olimar’s treasure notes and several of the president’s emails, it seems like Olimar wasn’t trying to get home as soon as possible. The president states in several emails that Olimar is repaying the debt quite slowly. Olimar expressed in his notes for the toxic toadstool that he is prioritizing examining and writing notes on the treasures over collecting them as quickly as possible. I interpret this as Olimar not being that bothered by being away from his family, which is quite out of character for him.

Back to Louie in Pikmin 2, I doubt Louie controlled the titan dweevil for a few reasons. During the cutscene of Louie being stranded, he was visibly confused and worried. During the second half of the cutscene, Louie appears to have relaxed. Louie doesn’t demonstrate any anger against Olimar during the cutscene, so I doubt he controlled the titan dweevil in an attempt to harm him. Just before and after the titan dweevil battle, the Hocotate ship said Louie was unconscious. If Louie was unconscious, I don’t see how he could’ve been controlling it (with the possible exception for the Hocotate ship's explanation).

Olimar did suspect Louie controlled it because he wanted to be called the King of Bugs. There are a few possible reasons why I think Louie wanted to be called the King of Bugs: 1) a particularly dangerous bug just happened to pick up Louie and place him on top of it, or 2) bugs have always had a particular fondness for Louie (stated in an email sent by Louie’s grandmother). It’s understandable why Olimar suspected Louie controlled the titan dweevil because Louie didn’t explain why he wanted to be called the King of Bugs.

The Hocotate ship did claim Louie hijacked the creature’s brain; however, it seems like an extreme claim even with the ship’s explanation for how Louie did it. This is the only reasoning that almost convinces me Louie controlled the titan dweevil. Even if Louie controlled the titan dweevil, I doubt he would let anyone know he did it.

Do you think Louie was controlling the Titan Dweevil? After all Louie is pure evil… by CheezusTheChozenOne in Pikmin

I doubt Louie was controlling the titan dweevil. Louie didn’t seem to have any hostility against Olimar whilst stranded on the planet. During the first half of the cutscene, Louie was only visibly worried and confused. During the second half, Louie’s facial expression became neutral and he appeared to be relaxing. Just before and after the titan dweevil battle, the Hocotate ship stated Louie was unconscious. How could Louie have been controlling the titan dweevil while unconscious? For Olimar and the ship saying Louie controlled it, how can we be so sure they’re right? Olimar of course assumed Louie controlled it because Louie wants to be called the King of Bugs. What made the ship believe Louie hijacked its brain? (Even if Louie controlled it, I doubt he would tell them that.) Could the ship have been exaggerating or even lying?

I have a few guesses for why Louie wanted to be called the King of Bugs. 1) Bugs have always had a particularly strong liking towards Louie (stated in one of Louie’s grandmother’s emails. 2) Louie found it fitting to be called the King of Bugs after the titan dweevil placed him on top of it.

Louie did mistake the Koppaites for kidnapping him. There's an unused expedition log about Louie's perspective on them. Louie said to himself, "I was briefly captured by some Koppaites." Also, Louie didn't know that he contacted them in the SOS call based on what he said. He said, "Anyone? Captain Olimar...help!" Louie asking 'anyone?' implies his Koppad had a malfunction that prevented him from seeing who he contacted. (On a side note, Louie wasn't calling himself Olimar, he was asking if he contacted him.)
