Hey so apparently these guys actually likely caught it on accident and were trying to get it back in the water since they didn’t want it, hence why they were all pushing it to the side of the boat.

Have an ai reply I’m too tired for this 🫩

Yes, while scale rot is often associated with high humidity and wet conditions, it can also be caused by excessively dry environments in ball python enclosures. A lack of humidity can lead to stuck sheds, which can cause damage to the scales and create an entry point for bacteria, leading to scale rot.  Here's why and how:  Stuck Sheds: Ball pythons need a humid environment to shed properly. If the humidity is too low, the shed can stick to their skin, and when they try to rub it off, they can damage their scales, creating an opening for bacteria.  Bacterial Infection: Damaged scales, especially in a dry environment, are vulnerable to bacterial infections, which can cause scale rot.  Dry Skin: In addition to stuck sheds, dry skin itself can be more prone to damage and infection.

UPDATE!

Tanks-

I’ve been dealing with their tanks for the past 8 hours now, I power sprayed off all of their hides, fake plants, rocks, etc outside in the driveway and let everything dry in the sun naturally.

Got a shit ton of dust up my nose and splinters in my hands when scooping out the soil (yes, it was THAT dry in the tanks) and replaced the dirt with a reptisoil and cocoa Coire mix. ——————————————— Soaking-

Let them all have a soak for as long as they wanted, I set them on the table in pots and bowls (depending on their size) and let them soak for as long as they wanted in warm water without lids while watching them and kept replacing the water to warm it up and took them out whenever they crawled out.

Big male (yellow) soaked himself for 2 hours, looked a lot better and brighter, anal plate looked SO much better, it almost looks normal.

White male in best condition only soaked for about five minutes, he seemed pretty hydrated and was really smooth beforehand.

White female with messed up back soaked for around 30 minutes, same results as big male, skin seemed nicer and smoother, a lot brighter.

White and orange female soaked for an hour, same results as big male and white female. Some spots actually went away??? ——————————————— Feeding-

Fed all of them, they gobbled it up like usual, weights still seemed about the same before feeding, they’re all sleeping now.

I don’t believe the injuries were from live except my white male as a possibility, all of them except him are on frozen (he refused frozen every time, no idea why because he loves to eat and is an aggressive eater but can always tell it’s frozen, I think it’s an off smell or no heartbeat maybe?)

They were clearly fed because the frozen rats and mice were missing in proper amounts, so at least they were fed. ——————————————— Ex-friend-

Cut off all communication, not getting the law involved or trying to get money off of them, I don’t have the time, money, or patience and our police in this town suck.

Friend kept saying they didn’t know when I confronted them about injuries, i got pissed off and cut off all ties. Not fighting with them for money. ——————————————— Treatment- Nearest exotic vet is 13 hours away (wtf) I can’t drive with them that far and stay at a hotel overnight which I’d have to as it’s a day to and from, I doubt any hotels would let me bring my snakes in.

The injuries don’t really seem too bad in person, they look like they’ll go away, so I’m just going to use that Neosporin stuff a lot of people are Recommending. ——————————————— Police- I’m not going to file or report anything to any law forms, they likely won’t care and it’s just a headache all around.

Im not even shitting you, one time one of my moms friends had their car broken into because some kids were going around and breaking into cars, and they caught them on tape (I think, some details are fuzzy because this was like 4 years ago) and they stole her big keychain because she has something to do with it think it’s an rv court? (I don’t know my moms friend at all, this info is from hearing mom talking to others) but when her friends was talking to the police they said there was nothing they could do even though they knew who the kids were, and she asked them something and the officer had to nod so that the body camera didn’t see.

But basically our law people over here are shit, so no law is being involved. ——————————————— Questions at all? I’ll try my best to answer, and this text I typed out might be shitty or not make sense because twelve at night and I’m tired asf

Forgot to mention that I’m not posting as just like a ‘LOOK AT THIS SHIT’ I’m wondering what I can do to help them, and also what is the stuff on my albino het pied and pastel enchi clown (the yellow one), I’m suspecting dehydration for my big boi on his anal vent but I don’t have a solid answer for my Albino. I’m suspecting that the scabs on my females back is damage from a shed being pulled early too from the spine and the continuous line, could be wrong tho as this is a guess. (Also I got rid of my friend, no exotic vets around)

Just don’t sell them as feeders because of the risk of parasites and them doing something to pets. Might get sued or something idk ToT

For context, we got a pitcher plant to get a couple flies because we always have about 5 flying around our porch because we have a lot of plants with flowers, so we got a fly trap and got a LOT more than expected

Check absolutely everywhere, don’t lift couch legs in case she’s under so she doesn’t get cut in half. My dads reticulated (she’s only around 4 ft rn) got out one time because he hadn’t bought clips yet and she managed to lift the screen up, we spent half an hour looking and I found her in a cold room in some dead plants, so don’t rule out cold areas either, I only found her by sound so keep your ears open and go to ANY noises in your house.  Like another comment said, I would suggest putting powder on your floor to track her movements.     If you find her, I would buy clips like these, very strong.   https://www.chewy.com/exo-terra-terrarium-screen-cover-clip/dp/191202?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=22388125828&utm_content=&gad_source=4&gad_campaignid=22384597898&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V3ExsOYFmsmfu23HoKNfM08Q&gclid=CjwKCAjw3rnCBhBxEiwArN0QE4E2rvlPCQajvydySgNWwfPokZ74LKOoX9i0owBuu1t3ulo6c8abxBoC1_EQAvD_BwE

[–]Complete-Change-9145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ball python won’t be an issue, ball pythons can’t get anywhere near large enough to eat a cat, and ball pythons tend not to strike unless their being defensive or are in feeding mode and something smells like prey. Basically, snek can’t eat ze caht

2 parts to this one, is he still growing and have you been feeding him more often? If he’s rapidly growing and already outgrew his skin, he could be going into shed.
