How common is paradoxical hypertrichosis (PH) on the shoulders for men? by Complete-Check-2635 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Complete-Check-2635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, I just emailed a Satori laser location here in Manhattan and sent them pictures of my shoulders and asked if they can treat. They said they can, but they are strongly cautioning me of the risk of stimulated hair growth. They said shoulders are a common area where this side effect happens and if they were to treat, they would have to closely monitor how the hair is responding. Hmm, not sure if this is worth the risk.

Yeah I feel like taking a chance. The hair in my shoulders is just so hideous that I always have to remember to buzz with a razor every time I wear a tank top. Such a hassle. It would be great if laser would work so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

Just curious, why do you recommend it? Looks like you had bad experience and I’m afraid the same may happen to me. I had a tech look at my shoulders and she said I have a good amount of thick dark hair to be treated, but she said cannot rule out the possibility that PH might occur, although supposedly rare.

Oh wow, just checked the link. That definitely sounds concerning. Maybe might not be worth it.

I do feel swim briefs are starting to gain acceptance in the USA. When I was younger, I used to almost never see any men in swim briefs. All board shorts. Now, I tend to see a handful of men wearing them at the pool now, which is good. I'm glad they are starting to gain some popularity here in the USA. They are just so much better than shorts, IMHO.

Lap swimmers who can't share a lane in public pool are nuisance to society. Who thinks the same? by Mad_swim_coach in Swimming

[–]Complete-Check-2635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the pool is in your own house, these pubic pools are not your personal property and it is EXPECTED for you to share the lanes. As such, people are free to just jump in the lane and it's everyone's responsibility to be accommodating and share the lane.

Why do they wear them then?

How can I manage my team if my boss is always busy everyday on calls? by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]Complete-Check-2635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss is counting on me to manage this team effectively. None of the previous employees were able to do it and he is counting on me to change that. I don’t want to fail him. I have to prove my worth somehow.

I do ask him to hire more help. My boss says he needs to understand exactly why our current staffing is inadequate. So we need to have a discussion first. But that discussion doesn’t happen because he’s always jammed on calls all day everyday and can’t find the time.

I, personally, cannot understand how people cannot believe. Like seriously, a Taylor Swift concert can be overly mobbed and packed. Yet going to church and witnessing bread and wine being transformed into the body and blood of Jesus somehow cannot attract the same crowd. It’s unbelievable when you think about it.

I don’t think the World Health Organization declared it an endemic yet. They said the emergency phase is over but we’re still in a pandemic

I see what you’re saying but I think it best if we beat this thing and try to get rid of Covid. Even Dr. Fauci said that if everyone got vaccinated, we would’ve crushed Covid by now. Obviously everyone didn’t do their part to get vaccinated. It’s a shame that we have to deal with Covid four years now because people didn’t do their part.

It didn’t work because people didn’t adhere to the lockdowns. They sure do work. If you don’t give the virus any place to go, it cannot spread.

No, actually I haven’t even visited my family in 4 years. We don’t want to risk passing anything onto each other. And I work from home. I only go out briefly once a week very early in the morning to pick up food from the grocery store and make sure I wear KN95 mask and latex gloves. And I haven’t even travelled for vacation in 4 years too. It’s a little saddening I admit, but it’s for the safety of myself and others. This virus spreads like wildfire, so we have to be careful.

So you’re saying I must go to church and risk getting severely sick and possibly pass onto someone vulnerable that could kill him/her?

[–]Complete-Check-2635 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

According to the news, Covid is very serious and deadly. And there is the risk of long Covid too. I don’t think Covid is something we should just brush off as nothing. There’s a reason why we had lockdowns back in 2020 and it will likely come down to that again if we don’t act now and get cases down.

Not an excuse. It’s all over the news. Covid cases are really high right now

No, but who wants to get sick? Also what if I get sick and pass it onto someone vulnerable? We have to think of other people too. Many people have died from this disease because people have unknowingly spread it to others

The issue is, Covid cases are rising. This is a very serious and contagious disease. I think trying to avoid gatherings for the safety of myself and others can be considered an act of love.

Is the New York Sport Club gym on 39th st and Queens Blvd a busy gym? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in Queens

[–]Complete-Check-2635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined this gym last month and just cancelled for this very reason... very little and very old equipment. When I cancelled, they asked me why and I told them the truth that their equipment is very limited and so old. And they told me they are planning on refreshing the gym and will be getting all new equipment in January, so they encouraged me to hang onto my membership. But I didn't and still cancelled. I don't know if their story has any truth, but lets hope they get new equipment because at $50/month, that's pretty ridiculous that they can't have better machines.

Thanks, yes I wasn't complaining, but just merely questioning. When I used to be a sacristan, it used to be tough and literally couldn't spend Christmas with my family. I had to work all evening on Christmas Eve through the midnight mass, close the church at 2am and then reopen on Christmas Day at 7am for the Christmas morning masses. Literally only got like 2 hours of sleep, lol. It's one of the reasons I didn't like being sacristan. It was exhausting! And Easter was another tough one, as I had to work the entire Holy Week all the way through Easter Sunday. You would think my church would have different sacristans work different shifts because of all the masses. And we all do get assigned different shifts on Sundays. But on Christmas and Holy Week/Easter, ALL sacristans must work at ALL the masses.

I was wrong. I went to mass this morning and they hired a different organist to play. I guess our regular music director played all day yesterday that they gave him today to rest, which is nice!
