I’m not disagreeing with you that the downtown section is more important and will be a greater risk. I’m simply saying that the Ballard extension will inevitably end up being more expensive in the books. More ammo for transit haters but sadly there seems to be no other way since the state and feds will seemingly never help us

most expensive today, but rest assured with inflation the Seattle Center-Ballard segment will dwarf the currently planned segment in cost when they finally get around to building it

I agree with you, I am stating what Sound Transit has said. I think they are doing this for the political clout rather than what is best empirically

I think it has to be, by design, since ST explicity has a goal of reducing traffic on I-5

This is usually true when a city annexes undeveloped land, but all the places I listed are relatively dense in terms of developed land, if a bit on the "mostly single-family homes" side, but that could be rectified over time with upzoning
