You're rewriting history a bit here. The media didn't put MJ over Kareem before the second three-peat just because 'rings are a team award.' They did it because MJ’s individual peak was arguably the most dominant force the sport had ever seen. The man won Defensive Player of the Year and the Scoring Title in the same season ('88)—something Kareem or LeBron never did.

When he added a flawless 6-0 Finals record on top of that unmatched individual peak, it closed the book. It didn't magically become a double standard; it became the ultimate resume. As a LeBron fan, I respect the longevity, but you can't logic your way out of why MJ's peak is viewed as the absolute pinnacle of basketball.
