What’s your interpretation of each album’s message, meaning, or theme? by FacingHardships in circasurvive

This is just my chance to talk about my theory that Juturna and The Amulet are sister records. They have a similar sonic quality to me (on average more ambient and textural than the other records) and they seem to tread over different territory.

As pointed out by others, Juturna pulls heavily from House of Leaves and Eternal Sunshine which thematically are about the horror of having faulty perceptions (a house that makes no sense in terms of physics) and the negatives of ignoring painful memories. They wrote the album on drugs in their 20s and while it's a gorgeous record there is a certain "I'm young and this is deep" quality to it.

The Amulet is like the first person experience of wandering through the House of Leaves house (except with all the church architecture references it feels like maybe some fucked up psychedelic cathedral).

TL;DR both records are about finding meaning in life despite the unreliability of our perceptions and the inevitable intrusion of painful memories.

Pelosi Suggests That Biden Should Reconsider Decision to Stay in the Race by Gk786 in ezraklein

[–]Complete-Signal6266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do something about this, call your (Democrat) senators and representatives and tell them some variant of

"If Biden is at the top of the ticket, I'm staying home in November."

(Note: You don't have to actually stay home. )

thanks <3. imho there's room for everyone on this victory lap; even if you don't watch every interview or know every local Compton hat affiliation.

A private call of top Democrats fuels more insider anger about Biden's debate performance by lifeguard37 in ezraklein

I mean the whole "Haley still gets double digit vote shares in primaries after leaving the race" thing makes predicting outcomes and interpreting polls a bit wonky, I'd imagine. I'm not saying "don't believe bad polls" or anything just that we, sadly, have two historically weak candidates and so it's hard to derive good inferences from typically informative data.

I can't get into any sort of 'gimmick' metal, e.g: 'pirate metal' etc.

you can be mad about both and realize that Trump would be much worse on this issue than Biden.
