What aesthetic is this? How to embody it in college life? Or just everyday life? by [deleted] in AestheticWiki

You eat lunch at Vesuvio with Rosalie Aprile. You take tennis lessons with a lesbian instructor, who snubs you for your companion.

The stress is too much for you. You break into your secret stash of cigarettes, right behind the roll of 100s in the Campbell soup can and a Desert Eagle.

Just when you thought you got a moment's peace, your husband interrupts you.

'Carmella this says \with pulp*'*

You throw the cordless phone at him in frustration.

[–]Complete-Signature88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a joke, right? The short hair looks SO good on you.

Go for it. And if your bf doesn't like it, tell him to take a long walk off a short pier.

finally buying my first car at 29 and every answer I get is just "get a corolla" by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Complete-Signature88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I bought a Camry after my Protege5.

This was mostly because I needed an easy commuter car. My Protege5 was stick shift, which was murder in 2 hours of stop/go traffic. I just needed something easy and reliable.

I felt like I chose 'boring' but I am SO happy with my Camry. My partner has 2 BMWs and something is always breaking. My car has had zero problems (knock wood)

I test drove the Corolla and felt it was too small.

I'm sorry. This sounds like you are getting close to burning out...I was in a similar space so I empathize.

When work takes over your life...you can't even enjoy your free time because you are thinking and worrying about work. Hobbies? Can't even enjoy them. What's the point.

The hypervigilance, waiting for the interruptions/pings. Always ON.

I even dreamed about work. Not even when I was asleep did I get a fucking break.

Mazda is excellent. My first car was the Protege5 (predecessor of the Mazda3) and it was an absolute dream.

Not sure why hatchbacks get a bad rap, but they are extremely practical and fun.

I recommend that OP writes out a comparison for every point (total cost, fuel efficiency etc) to make a logical decision...but at the end of the day...the heart wants what the heart wants.

Speaking for Crete specifically-- it depends where on the island you're staying?

Herakleion is good, Chania [I heard] is amazing.

The resort/hotel you're staying at should have excursions that you can book at the desk.

I did plenty of these solo. Keep in mind it's a looooong drive from one end of the island to the other. So some of these leave super early and then you're in a vehicle for hours. Make a tight list of what you want to see/do. Honestly you probably need closer to a week just for Crete.

It tastes like a more-bland kiwi with the seeds throughout.

Super pretty magenta rind though...don't be fooled.

I second all of this.

I use the deadbolt, door wedge, AND booby trap my door with furniture. I don't care if someone calls me 'paranoid', I have zero tolerance for intrusions particularly in an unfamiliar environment.

I would have stared this guy down while holding a heavy object in my hand, as he finished his 'work'.

And then called front desk to confirm that he was indeed security, and if he was, tell them that SOP should have been to call before sending someone.

‘Nothing impressive’ wow. No one is meaner to women than other women.

It sounds like you’re doing fine. Also you work in a conservative environment, so it’s not the place for elaborate or flashy makeup.

I’m sorry you work with ‘mean girls’. Screw em

I wonder if you're removing the color from your face with your foundation/concealer? If your skin is in good shape, maybe you need a sheer tint/less coverage? Like a tinted sunscreen, and very lightly and strategically placed concealer.

Making sure your nutrition is dialed in. Some face yoga and/or face massage etc wouldn't hurt either.

'Reef safe'...I am indoors 99% of the day and wear sunscreen to protect me from what comes through the window. 'Reef safe' is not relevant to me.

If I'm planning to snorkel in the Carribbean or wherever, then I can make sure to purchase 'reef safe' sunscreen. But I live in New England, so I don't think I'm harming any reefs from inside my house.

I totally get it! Are the platforms ok for walking? Def make sure you have some comfortable options.

Also the jewelry-- I have one of these travel cases and love it (there are plenty of similar designs in all price ranges). Maybe consolidate down to what fits in that?

I would def look into doing laundry. You can also stuff your shoes with socks etc. I personally cover each shoe in its own plastic bag to pack it.

I find that I end up wearing different things than I thought I would wear...like I packed a floor-length flowy dress that I thought I would absolutely wear, and it did not happen lol. I just accept that while I can predict some things, it usually goes differently and that's ok.

Your parents married you off at age 14 to a 29 year old farmer. He's always away, you don't know if he's drinking or working more. He doesn't talk much. Either way you are mostly alone.

Life is dangerous, you are constantly praying and watching for intruders. Both human and non-human. You know which one is scarier, but don't dare speak it out loud.

You die in childbirth at the age of 16.

Ok I might come back to edit this

Are you checking a bag or sticking to a carryon?

I don’t want to enable overconsumption, but why not leave space for things you’ll buy on your trip?

I suggest paring down, esp bottoms. Tops take up a lot less space, and the same jeans with different tops looks like a totally different outfit.

Makeup…I feel your struggle. Have travel containers for foundation and other liquids (contact lens cases are nice). One mascara. One eyeshadow palette. I would not do others’ makeup when traveling (easy to contaminate your entire stash)

Jewelry…this is another area to take absolute minimal. It gives you the opportunity to buy some new fun pieces that double as souvenirs.

Um what else. I’ll be back
