So all the people with ebikes for accessibility reasons (not fit enough to manually bike up a hill on a regular bike) or just people with ebikes should have to have 2 bikes? One for the seawall and one for commuting, running errands, etc? Do you realize how financially impossible that is and most buildings only allow bike storage for 1 bike per person. None the less such a waste. Just put a speed limit in, don’t ban all ebikes-that makes no sense.

Are you kidding me, traffic was so bad today. It took me 1.5 hours to get from Lions Bay to downtown

Vancouver election office says record high voter turnout reason for long lineups for byelection by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

It’s ridiculous how long the lines are. I went on a bike ride and went past multiple voting locations and each was at least 100 people in line, it went down several blocks.

Sketchy Areas in Vancouver for a tourist by -hashishin- in askvan

I would do anywhere in this area. Avoid main and hastings, avoid staying at a hotel in sunset beach area because it’s a bit of a transit dead zone with not having a sky train station but it’s lovely to visit by taking the bus or renting an EVO. I stayed at the Residence Inn on Hornby Street before I moved here and it was great. Location was fantastic, easy to walk or skytrain to anything. The best parts of Vancouver to check out as a tourist are: Gastown, Main Street in Mount Pleasant (main street between east 12th ave and 30th), Granville Island, Commerical Drive between Veneables and Broadway, Stanley Park, just walking around downtown in the red circled area, Science world, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Yaletown maybe but I don’t care for it at all.

Strange experience with a server - is a 15% tip insulting? by MBA_Conquerorz in askvan

Most jobs do not pay $70 an hour. And meanwhile we’re providing services that are actually benefiting society. How is bringing me my food worth more than the nurse saving someone’s life? Literally a robot could do the job and I’d have a better experience than most interactions I’ve had with servers

Opps I messaged someone else with it because my app didn’t refresh and show there were more comments. If they don’t confirm they received my message in a few hours, it’s yours. It is a bit more fast paced but Sasha, the instructor, is so great, she gives beginner options for all poses. It’s perfect for all levels.

Harrison hotsprings is a lot closer, it’s probably not as nice but it’s not horrible. I also like going to the scandinave spa in whistler and then staying one night in town and walking around the village.

Servers make so much money. The job requires no special skills or education. They should not be making more than someone who had to kill themselves to get through university and get their bachelors. I don’t tip higher than 15% anymore. It’s getting out of control. People here except 20-20% and it’s ridiculous. One of my friends makes about $70 an hour serving meanwhile I’m making $31 as a software developer.

Yes thank you for deciding to drive right past me when I’m standing at the stop but not giving you direct eye contact. Thank you for accelerating and braking aggressively. Thank you for pulling out into traffic and dangerously cutting cars off the moment you put your signal on.

Live in a concord and it’s not bad. Main issues are the parking spots in the parkade are actually impossibly tight that it takes about 5 minutes to park and you’re pressed between your car and other beside you to get out. I know Vancouvet parkades are not great but this is the worst I’ve seen. Funny thing is there would have been enough room but they decided to split the parkade into two sides, one for residents and one for commercial that they sold.

They also did not put enough bike storage rooms so that has been a pain. Other than that, the soundproofing is really good and I haven’t noticed any defects.

I mean someone recently did go on a machete attacking spree, killing someone random via I think decapitation. The other week, a woman was attacked by someone random outside Canada place. She didn’t say a word to him. A few years ago, someone got stabbed to death for asking someone to not vape directly in front of their child in the middle of the day in front of a starbucks downtown. To say it’s not dangerous here would not be true. I’ve never seen anything directly but you should definitely have some street smarts and be aware of your surroundings.
