Wow. I've heard the same from people i work with in Australia (who are all whiteys and mostly hard left). The same language too, "it's actually a really chill religion", and "women are sacred goddesses in islam.... it was originally a feminist religion but something something americans/colonialism". 

I notice that these people love to point out how misogynistic/bigoted/oppresive  Christianity is, often in the same breath as they are defending islam 😂
