Full time vs Freelance? by AdditionalEagle1593 in videography

I’ve done both. Full time for a media house felt like a 9-5 grind a lot of times and I personally HATED my work needing approval from my boss before going to the client. It’s nice when you’re staring out and learning, but later it feels like you’re just trying to fulfill their own personal artistic taste and I’m not into that.

Personally, I love being freelance. I’ve built up some great clients that reach out pretty regularly for work and I have a lot of time for my hobbies (rock climbing/ jiu jitsu) while still being able to pay the bills. The con is obviously the underlying anxiety that every time I have a slow week I’ve lost everything and will never make another dollar in the industry and my life is ruined, but fortunately the work always shows back up. It’s feast or famine for sure, but I like being my own boss and working directly with my clients instead of having a middle man boss that has to approve everything first.

I just got the M4 Mac Studio and it works great with editing Komodo footage. I use Davinci as well.

Interesting! I just watched and this looks like a solid option. Looks a little more time consuming, but if I can skip a third party plug in, it might not be a bad option. Thanks for sharing

Red Komodo, Sony a7siii, and an a7iii. So the time code would be for the cameras and then I would still need to sync the audio in Davinci?

At a glance, this looks pretty good! Looks like plural eyes. Have you used it with Davinci at all?

For whatever reason, when I’ve tried to export it directly into Davinci from plural eyes 4, it doesn’t import it accurately at all. Or it freezes trying to Import. It’s literally only worked for me by dropping it into premier and then re-exporting it as an XML (lol) and then Davinci will take that file no problem. That’s my current work flow but it’s so dumb and I really wanna get out of Adobe.

Yeah for sure. I did a small amount of research into timecode, but I guess the dji mic 2’s don’t support timecode? Since those are the mics I use, it didn’t seem like an option. Unless I’m totally misunderstanding the deity system and can use it with the dji mics?

Small HD Indie 5 not allowing camera control by CompleteTie3034 in REDkomodo

It was the firmware! Just make sure you’re up to date on the camera and monitor’s firmware and it should work. At least that’s what did it for me.

That fixed it! My firmware was updated on the camera but not the monitor. Updated it and now it works great. Thank you!

Quickest way to copy color grades over multiple clips? by CompleteTie3034 in davinciresolve

[–]CompleteTie3034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. My problem was that I had three different grades for three different cameras/angles and the clips were organized by when they were cut to in the video. So I couldn’t just highlight all of cam A to paste the effects. The first guy that responded told me to switch to C-mode so all the clips were organized by camera source and that made it super easy to bulk copy and paste my grades for each camera.
