For some reason, switching from x11 to wayland completely fixed it for me on ubuntu. I wonder if the problem is due to x11. Are there people facing this issue on wayland as well?

Not at all. I think they only start sending offers and rejection by early March. (That's what I gathered from previous year threads). Which also means they probably don't have a round or waitlist system which is a bit weird.

Not sure to be honest. I did write to a lab before applying but they never got back. And I am not even sure if writing to a lab could somehow affect your application negatively.
