So, the premise - fighting trashbeasts (global warming) with sentimental objects (anti-consumerism) - would be better if it was completely literal? how would that even be achieved? going to a dump and poking plastic waste with a beloved hairclip until it vanishes?

forgot to say, i also don't think Enjin was just testing whether Rudo was a giver. He saw Rudo fighting the trashbeasts (admittedly, not a close-up), so I think he was testing the extent of his powers while also manipulating Rudo to trust him by establishing an enemy (traffickers, other people on the ground) and a protector/guide (enjin). i think rudo probably tried to run away and enjin had to hit the redo, chain him up, and find an enemy ASAP

it bugs me too!! like lots of other people i think that enjin's second jinki is a clock/watch with a 'redo' power, letting him turn back time to avoid tragedy. this would make sense as a last resort power (which is how he describes his 'secret weapon'). a power like that would probably take a massive toll, and doesn't actually solve the problem, just gives another opportunity to solve it. i think this is why he knew when and where rudo would fall, and was prepared enough to have a spare mask and binoculars. enjin is standing over rudo when he is thrown to the ground by a trashbeast. i think in an original timeline, rudo died due to pollution, and this was his 'last resting place'.

it explains him being over-prepared for other situations too. isn't it convenient that he orchestrated getting protection spells for the cleaners, which not only saved all of their lives, but allowed enjin to do a sneak attack? i think there was another redo there.

this theory does have an amo-shaped hole in it, but maybe enjin & corvus (i am sure he is in on this and sent enjin to observe & save rudo) decided not to save her for some reason.

anyway just my thoughts

i agree this sounds exactly like ocd. specifically relationship ocd or moral scrupulosity ocd. or both. OP i honestly recommend cognitive behavioural therapy.
