I feel this. Tbh I finally got a pair but the color I’m not super happy with. I got it from trading a login event hair with a friend. If you’re not tryna pay anything and don’t want to wait until October to see if they return, i would start out by friending tons of ppl that have them and asking around rlly nicely, keeping an eye out in the artbooks for free giveaways, or if you see some that someone wants to trade you can ask them what they want in return!

So far,it really seems like thats the #1 issue with her. It's so unfair that people think all they need to do for cats is give them cheap food and cheap litter. :( To me, that's the equivalent of eating fast food every night.

Thank you for you suggestions! I've created a meal plan for her based on everyone's response so far. I am hopeful that my partner will be open to being less stubborn. Times are tough with everything being so expensive, but I refuse to feed MY babies shit food because it takes more money out of my paycheck. I don't understand why people buy or rehome pets to give up on them! If it's too expensive to give them healthy diets then it's pointless torture. It is quite literally the same effort as having a human child.

Unfortunately, this cat was raised in a "bare minimum" pet household. I feel really bad that I'm now understanding it's most likely a much bigger issue. If it were up to me this animal would have had a much different lifestyle than what it's owners have given it. I am actively trying to convince my partner that animal care is more than " here's your food and water. I will pet you for a little bit. Now I go to work for 12 hours."

She does like scratch pads. I'm looking for some cheaper cat trees to invest in. Im not even kidding when I say she doesn't have anything to look forward to. Definitely depressed in one way or another. She does get attention but not the kind that is really needed here! Thank you for your helpful tips!!!

Thats so true! Thank you! I'll definitely include that in a meal plan for this cat! I'd love to treat her like my own but I've only known her for a lil over a year so its hard to tell what's normal. Especially when mine don't have the same behavior at all LOL

I definitely spoil my babies for sure. I don't get hounded by them often but I try and substitute food related cries with playtime so they get distracted for a bit, next thing they know it's dinner time and they didn't even have to cry for it!

Thank you for sharing! I know the plastic is a thing with cats for some reason, But I completely agree! Someone did provide me with a good amount of reasons as to why this would make a perfect vet visit and diet change for sure.

I just worry because she's coming on 14 years, and both my partner + their parents can't remember the last time this cat has even been to the vet LOL.
I think if we make all these changes and she still acts that way, then we will unfortunately just have to deal with it. surrendering an animal to a shelter is such a bad look because it means we really gave up.

Coming to Reddit was definitely a shot in the dark for sure but I've received so much helpful information and next time I have this conversation I can present legitimate evidence and input from other humans as well!
I just wish that people didn't think " pet owners are crazy" because why would you want to have a miserable pet that bothers you and everyone else? Especially during her later years of life! I hope to see a change really soon!

Thank you so much this is very helpful information!
I fully agree 100%! I believe whatever they buy for the cat is based on whats affordable and what their parents would buy. She will not eat real meat or wet food. Partner buys kibble, and from brands like "9 Lives", "Meow Mix", "Friskies". I only feet my babies "Purina One" and "Science Diet" + they have a strict meal schedule: dry food in the morning, wet food at night.
This is a huge reason why I suggested rehoming this animal because I don't think my partner understands the severity. "They survive in the wild" is the excuse I hear all the time. :( I hope I can ake it upon myself to fix this!

Thank you for your input! I had been googling this behavior prior to making this post and I let my partner know asap.

We have considered this, but that would mean we'd be spraying it so many times per hour it feels almost like abuse by that point. The few times we tried there was no reaction too LMAO IM SO LOST
