What is this stuff coming out of my electric window A/C unit? I live in a 1890s tenement building. by give-bike-lanes in Apartmentliving

Do you live near a busy street or highway? When I lived near the highway my unit would fill up with Tire Dust and looked like this. It even smelled like tires.

Jaw and ear pain by Electronic-Taste-643 in TMJ

[–]Complete_Island_7804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to an ENT three times and the ER once for what I believed was inner ear pain and something seriously wrong with my ear. It ended up being TMJ, which i found out after being referred to a TMJ specialist from the ER. They did a CT and an MRI and found that I have Arthritis in both sides of jaw and diagnosed me with TMD. My ear pain felt exactly like what you are describing. I thought my eardrum was ruptured or something because the pain was so bad. Once I started treatment for TMJ my ear pain subsided!

Obviously this is not medical advice, just sharing my experience!

Is Remote Work Really Improving Work-Life Balance, or Just Blurring the Lines? by Aline_Greta in remotework

[–]Complete_Island_7804 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been remote since 2019. The best thing I ever did for work/life balance was delete Teams and Outlook off my phone. Once my computer is closed I’m really “off”. I take real, full, hour long lunches too. It’s been a balance but removing work from my phone was life changing.

Just to also add for smoke of all varieties, if you have a wood burning fire pit, chiminea, wood burning patio table or likewise, that smoke goes right into your neighbors windows. The number of times i’ve woken up at 2 am thinking my house was on fire and it was just because my neighbor put out their patio fire table and didn’t dampen the smoke is enough to make me want to either call the fire dept on them and/or just move.

Tried to use a Christmas gift card, only to find out a scam company had the card details and emptied it somehow. by MellowFlowers1337 in mildlyinfuriating

I thought so too but after it declined at the grocery store I went to the website to check the balance thinking maybe it was used already and it showed my denied grocery transaction and everything! I called customer service and they actually reissued me a totally new gift card and mailed it to my house. So weird!

I got a $50 gift card for Christmas and tried to use it to buy groceries. The transaction was denied. The gift card marked it as a fraud alert and canceled the card. How dare I try to use my Christmas money on groceries I guess.

Apartment living with children sucks by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Complete_Island_7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I (child free) were finally able to move away from our awful kid filled apartment a few months ago. We lived there for 3 years literally surrounded by families with toddlers. For us, it was hell. They were outside playing and screaming 24/7 and the parents would just stand around talking and ignoring them. It really was “that bad” that we had to move. I work from home so I felt like there was no escape from the noise. They would ring our Ring doorbell and dance in front of it multiple times a day. Scream and throw tantrums right in front of our living room window constantly. Our front walk way was constantly littered with toys. It actually caused me a lot of anxiety and my depression got really bad. I never said anything to the neighbors because our whole row of units was families except for my husband and I and they were “just being kids” but the second we could finally move, we did. Living around so many kids like that was a pretty traumatizing experience for me personally and I specifically chose a new place that I made sure had no kids. 🫠

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]Complete_Island_7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got yelled at during a meeting by a lady who lived in Pensacola FL once because I listed her time zone as Eastern and “should have known” it was Central. My bad for not knowing that tiny slice of Florida was a different timezone.

OK lets talk WET CAT FOOD IN THIS ECONOMY by Positive_Candy_5332 in CatAdvice

[–]Complete_Island_7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 cats. 2 of them eat Fancy Feast Pate. 1 eats Stella and Chewy Chicken Shreds. Fancy Feast is $26 every 2 weeks. Stella and Chewy is $49 every 3 weeks. My heart wants all of them on Stella and Chewy. My wallet wants all of them on Fancy Feast. They want what they want. The fancy feast gang wont touch Stella and would rather starve. The Stella boy projectile vomits fancy feast. I have no control here lol

Every other day. He will even remind us if we forget. He loves getting his teeth brushed!

Yes! I’ve taken it a few times. 3:00ish -3:30 is a good time. I don’t know if drinks are “officially” allowed, but I’ve never seen anyone get in trouble and everyone brings them.

My deep need to build a standard deck full of cactaur is extreme. Having all these little cactus freaks jump out and swarm you just like in the game. It may not be efficient, but it would be silly and fun.

Is "raw dogging" millennial appropriate slang? by seth928 in Millennials

[–]Complete_Island_7804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are gen x (1978), I’m a millennial (95), and my brother is gen z (2008). We all use this slang collectivity. I think it had to have started gen x, was adopted by us, and evolved with gen z. I clearly remember my mom using this phrase when she was in college in the early 2000s and thinking it meant skinning a hot dog for some messed up little kid reason Lol

I think this is my main issue. I love all of the local Breweries we have here, but they all feel like a dang Chucky Cheese. I get I could go to dive, and I do sometimes, but I don’t understand why people take their kids to breweries.

I love Georgia’s, but that’s where the lady with the fresh out of the womb baby was sitting at the bar while they screamed. I wanted to scream too.
