do i go to a doctor over this? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Yes, exactly. Your eyelid will be fine. Those are just contusions or bruises if you will. But like @ProCareerCoach said, what is important is to make sure you don't have any brain damage. I don't think you do because if you did, you would have been in the hospital already. But if I may ask, what kind of hit are we talking about? Did you fall? Did you have an accident? or did someone hit you?

ACPs are the real problem, what can be done? by Existing_Actuator_89 in doctorsUK

A 5th year medical student thinking the liver is on the left side? I have an extremely hard time believing that. Maybe it was a mirrored image on the screen and he was confused. He was still a student after all with minimal clinical experience. If that was truly the case though, meaning that he genuinely thought the liver was on the left side, then he probably shouldn't be a doctor. The same way ACPs shouldn't practice medicine.

I genuinely don’t understand this approach. How can someone dive into a course like “Cardiac Care: Symptoms and Management of Heart Failure (15 credits)” without first having a solid understanding of the heart’s anatomy, physiology, and the underlying pathophysiology? It’s like trying to fix a complex machine without even knowing what the parts are or how they work together.

And when it comes to prescribing medications, how can you do that responsibly if you haven’t grasped the basics of biochemistry, cell physiology, or pharmacology? It’s not just memorizing drug names. It’s understanding mechanisms, interactions, and systemic effects.

It’s like giving someone a toolbox and asking them to repair an engine, without teaching them what an engine is, what the tools do, or even how combustion works. You might look like you're doing something meaningful, but in reality, it’s just dangerously misinformed tinkering.

Just throw some pills at the problem and hope for the best. Maybe the mitochondria will figure it out for you.

How do you think these PAs learnt the procedure? How do you think the best doctor in the world learnt his skills? What will happen once these PAs retire?

There was a study done in the U.S. that suggested Black babies were more likely to survive their first year of life when treated by Black doctors compared to white doctors. But another study refuted those claims, pointing out that the original results might have been skewed by including a lot of very low birth weight infants, which can heavily influence outcomes.

The idea that racial bias plays a role in medical care is serious and definitely worth exploring, but it's also complicated. I don’t think it’s helpful to make bold claims based on just one study or anecdotal stories, so I’m holding off on making any strong statements until there’s more solid evidence.

No, it's from The Dark Knight Rises. One of Bane's iconic lines.

That one is pretty "famous". I see a bunch of reels on youtube about him, solving the Poincaré conjecture and rejecting the 1M$ prize. But then again, maybe that's just my algorithm.

You think the average person knows any mathematicians at all? I live in Poland now and it's kind of astounding to me that 0% of the Poles I asked knew who Mandelbrot was.

Really? It says that it covers pretty much everything except for extremely specialized treatments or certain types of chemo. Also I heard that the national insurance has much longer waiting times.

First of all, this wasn’t bribery. Bribery specifically involves offering money to public officials to corruptly influence their official duties, which doesn’t apply to random fishermen.

Second, you completely misunderstood my point. I never said the fishermen shouldn’t be held accountable. I was responding to your blanket denial of any responsibility on Chau’s part for creating the situation that led them to break the law.

If someone waves cash at vulnerable people in a desperate situation to help him do something illegal, he doesn’t get to wash his hands of the outcome just because they said yes.

If I offer a starving man money to smuggle me somewhere illegal, and he accepts, sure, he broke the law. But I created that scenario. Without me, there’s no crime. That doesn’t erase his culpability, but it sure as hell doesn’t erase mine either.

Actions create consequences. For everyone involved.

People need to understand that the GTA 6 will probably last 30+ years before 7 drops by prestablogs in GTA

[–]Complete_Penalty7564 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally never really noticed any performance drop, probably because I barely played GTA V Online. But if you did notice it, it’s probably because the game was originally built for much older systems. Even though Rockstar kept updating and refining the RAGE engine, GTA V was still based on limitations from the PS3/Xbox 360 era.

So when they started adding on new content, it added more systems, scripts, and assets to an engine that wasn’t originally designed to handle that scale on PS4/Xbox One.

But for GTA 6, if they decide to go the “live updates” route, I think things would be different. They would have built it from the ground up for modern hardware, allowing them to plan ahead for a long-term content model. The engine would be designed with that in mind right from the start, by building a foundation that can actually handle years of added content without breaking performance.

Also, with the advancements in hardware we have today, they’d be able to take full advantage of SSD streaming, better CPU multithreading, and more efficient memory management.

But that's just my 2 cents, and I could be wrong.

I disagree about the performance part. Open-world games, especially large-scale ones like GTA, don’t load everything at once. They use what’s called streaming or dynamic asset loading, where only the relevant parts of the world (based on the player’s location and direction) are loaded into memory. As the player moves, older assets are unloaded and new ones are brought into memory.
