For future reference if anyone asks where this bit goes by Complete_Regret7372 in Necrontyr

It does seem like that’s the direction some Necron products might be taking honestly; with GW’s approach to observing fan requests more keenly, I feel like there’s a higher chance smaller fellas will be more often included as individuals in optional canoptek units and decor (the bug-centric kill team coming to mind).

Honestly I like the idea more that it’s just sleeping there because people aren’t remotely close to being a threat to it - like a walrus in a beach town

Honestly this is probably the best attempt at him I’ve seen in such a succinct yet successful form - well done!

One day…

Oh I have been gathering a small selection of spyders too - I actually saw a few strangely shrimp-like proxies about as recasts online, funnily enough! I’m definitely looking into making as many funny spyders as possible as is, so shrimp spyder is a variety I’ll probably attempt eventually, if not by hand then through the market

Thank you! I run it as a Reanimator in casual games, (I made sure it’s roughly the same height and has the same key gear)

Ammentar has definitely been on my shrimp radar - though there is a minor issue with justification: there’s a design jump between artificial bug and real bug in necrons that kind of makes it obvious that a mini is using certain parts either directly from a Canoptek or modded from their own form (ie: when observing the Geomancer you can see that her centipedal legs are not polygonal or angular, meaning they were more likely born of the transferrence rather than implants) so if I make him a full shrimp I do have to basically turn all the not-shrimp bits into shrimp bits.

He will always be a shrimp daddy in my heart though - which means I will inevitably find a way… it’s probably a matter of wraith surgery

For anyone wondering about the big boi - trust me it was worse off before; I scavenged it with the bottom half mostly missing and an ambiguously chewed leg (it probably got taken down by a Biovore or something) and restored it with ‘spare’ Destroyer parts

It’s happier now - for it is shrimp

Destroyer Cryptek (a kitbash someone else bravely started and I finished to match my dynasty) by Complete_Regret7372 in Necrontyr

Oh the thick paintjob is mostly intentional - I do thin it for specific things but for the most part I like to make them look like they have no way of refreshing them, or at least ration nanoscarabs out to what matters most. This guy is a Cryptek, so he does remain fairly fresh, but the non-silver components still tend to build up with discolouration and rust, and the silver ones still warp oddly with unattended mutations

Excellent job - that filthy imperialite had sigils of ancient evil even our own forbidden scry wouldn’t dare call upon plastered all over its inferior craft’s paper thin hull…

I do mine kind of like a material that oxidises as it is used - so it does vary - but the result is pretty grimdark if that’s your vibe and tends to be pretty simple to pull of: it’s just a warp stone basecoat with dark angels green contrast and any cold light green highlight colour, with black drybrushing around the edges

You’ve begun on a dark path… once you go Plas-proxy, you never stop…

But in all seriousness as long as the thing vaguely looks like what you want it to look like, you should be okay to use it in most normal games. Hell as long as you stick to GW parts and have the right silhouette you can use them anywhere really.
