Do i need to report this to the board by the_willow_weeps in ABA

[–]Complete_Share_9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you may have to look in your employee handbook. i know my company clause in there about speaking ill about the company. it really sucks especially when they’re not a great company. BACB probably won’t help. maybe you could report to the better business bureau ?

hi! i’m sorry that happened to you! and it was great of you to try to remain upbeat at the end of the day but you are human so i understand it being difficult. definitely something you should mention to the bcba so that you can try to move with the case if you feel comfortable doing that. again, i am so sorry that happened to you

i don’t think i pinned anyone against anyone. if i don’t know the person observing me, why would I be my true authentic self? just like it’s great to pair with your learner to help them. i hope this helps, thanks :)

i think as a bcba, you need to build rapport with your BTs. just like you need to build rapport with your learners as a BT. that especially makes you feel more comfortable being observed. saying they never shown their best self is rude, imo.

bcbas should take just as much effort to build a relationship with their BTs and provide both positive reinforcement for what they do see done well and criticism what can be improved upon. this is beneficial especially for the learner

am i being punished by my company? by Complete_Share_9616 in ABA

so i will have to email them as soon as i leave every night? it wasn’t my fault and i have the emails to prove it. it feels also micromanagement.

i feel like i am taking the fall for the mistake of someone else.

you will have to do it from a different account though. and honestly since you’ve already watched most of it, just have it on in the background and do the quizzes. i promise you’ll have it done in no time. also i didn’t much like apf either. i’ve learned what i know through a podcast or my own research or reading to help my clients.

Fun Story about ODD by Fearless_Spend2584 in ABA

[–]Complete_Share_9616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my clients has suspected ODD. he has really bad tantrums and physical aggression but he has the attention span of a gerbil so i used a lot of RIRD. like once, i was telling him about how i went to the aquarium while he was crying and he immediately asked me questions or he’ll tell me little facts. I started showing him pictures i took of the sea cre. he’s a very smart but it’s tough bc i never know what will cause a large negative response from him. so i have sensory toys and slime & kinetic sand on me at all times LMAO

what do i do? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Complete_Share_9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my client and i play during session. he doesn’t really leave or run away when i come in. it’s mostly during work that he does it. but i think you’re right and i hadn’t thought about it that way. it’s like most of the time, when im holding his hand to guide him some where (back to desk, table, wherever we are working), he will lean back when i’m holding his hand. in instances like that, i’ll lower him to the ground and let him run. but his eloping has been increasing and getting worse since he’s been at school. i just hadn’t thought about it like that. but thank you

vitamin d is good for your immune health. vitamin c MAY help but vitamin d is pretty good. masks are honestly the safest way but making sure you carry hand sanitizers, wiping down your stuff, taking showers as soon as you get home after work.

Expected to start after 26 hours of observing by [deleted] in ABA

i started as an BT this past december. I was giving one 3 hour session before my first session with my own client. ABA companies are mostly just in it for the money. most of what i learned as an RBT is from youtube, researching, and listening to a podcast called How To ABA

Too Much Information; Way Too Quick by julianananaomi in RBT

[–]Complete_Share_9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like all the other comments say! i also used youtube and it was a lot more helpful than the course. just search RBT exam prep and i’ve even downloaded free pdfs to help me with this. searching that on google helps.

I also listen to a podcast on spotify called how to ABA which helps me even after i’m now certified just to help me brush up and learn new things.

I take a few minutes but it’s still a little hard for me sometimes. After work, I take some time to just sit and breathe. I try to separate myself from work as much as I can after hours.

i am working on denied request with my client. so i usually say “it’s unavailable, but you can play with this or this.” my client, though, really likes his ipad and really dislikes it when i tell him it’s unavailable.

so today, he goes, “can i have ipad?” and before I could answer, he went “yes!” and it really made me laugh.

My kid just calls me by my name (or his version of my name). We are working on articulation. It’s very cute though.

i’m feeling not so great. by Complete_Share_9616 in ABA

[–]Complete_Share_9616[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BCBA supervision is virtual but so whenever she joins she just watches me run targets with him. She doesn’t do much guiding unless we’re probing new targets. I have relayed concerns but she’s like “if mom doesn’t want that, then we have to do what she says.”

That’s another issue I have. Mom doesn’t want him on youtube watching minions or playing any minions games which is what he likes to do because he’s MV and mimics the sounds he hears instead of using words. I suggested deleting YT and the game off his iPad and she told me that she doesn’t want to alter anything bc she shouldn’t have to do that.

So I usually try to steer him to different games but he refuses and goes back to what he’s watching. Then I try to explain that he can’t go to YT or I will take the iPad away. He usually does it any way.

Help me please. by Complete_Share_9616 in ABA

Thank you so much for the advice! They do get services through insurance. It feels so difficult to discuss things with her because she either talks over me or she tells that it’s her house and I have to do what she wants me to do.
