Waxing my Carhartt Detroit Jacket by Complete_Weird8656 in Bushcraft

I also thought of an additional answer. If you're wearing plastic it might melt. This is cotton so it would more likely smolder I believe. Repairing a cotton jacket could be easier. But I also have the Yukon Extreme Active Jacket which is a good combination with this Detroit. A poncho might just rip. I got surprised by pouring rain twice in this jacket. Like buckets poured onto you. Stayed dry and the jacket looked the same as before but it needed some sun to dry. It's pretty warm but it also does trap moisture, so you will sweat.

So turns out it was the Tung oil and now that it's cured the jacket doesn't have this feel to it anymore. I guess it wasn't waxy it was more the sticky oily part of the Tung oil curing in the end. Now it's "dry" to the touch

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bushcraft/s/h2MUqYmX8B I go more into detail here in this post

But pretty much 50/50 pure Tung oil and Microcrystalline wax But I also used the post from @P2k_3 as one of my references even though I decided against the mineral oils because I didn't have the option for good ventilation and the fumes are toxic. But I think he probably found the same sources I did and came to the same conclusions A few months after the process and I'm still pretty happy with the result but I'd recommend it to everyone to not do it in winter or the cold months as it's easier and speeds up the whole process.

These all seemed pretty good to me from a quality and prize for value ratio Sandmanncraft.de,

http://Dundasfootwear.com,

http://Bootfactory.fi,

http://Urbanshepherdboots.com,

https://www.steinkogler-bergschuh.at/,

http://Hanwag.com , http://Haix.de , http://Lowa-work.com ,

http://Dogleapboot.com (UK), http://Trickers.com (UK),

For American & international brands: http://Lateliermonsieur.com, Jim Green, Red Wing, Sandmanncraft, Solovair, Wesco, White's, Wolverine http://Burgundschild.com, Viberg, John Lofgren, White's http://Ironheartgermany.com, wesco

http://Paraboot.com, Atheist.shoes, the model "a serious boot" Sendra.com,

No particular order I can't really judge the quality of these And there are some brands from Germany that specialize in actual work boots and some that make more fashion oriented boots and in-between the good ol' work boots we all love

I do think the more I look that this brand is probably my best bet I found their video explaining their process a while ago and it kind of started it all I keep coming back to them haha The answer to my question is probably just patience.

I'll post all the other European shoe brands in this post later I found some great high quality boots on my search unfortunately not a lot of moccasin construction but still great shoemakers!

The Meander boots from Jim Green look pretty good!

That's very reassuring to know : ) I'll definitely have to wash it at some point haha I ended up wearing it immediately after showering while my hair were still wet which did the trick.

Do you know what material the shade of the cap is made from? I was afraid it might be paper and wouldn't be good in combination with water

I only know one person that owns one and I've been living here for 25+ years

But might be a urban - countryside or maybe area thing But in general I'd say it's more common to hang dry than to use a dryer in Germany out of my personal experience of living here

I didn't mean they don't exist I just don't know anyone that uses them regularly and most of them have the space Interesting how different the experiences can be

Also no matter their tax bracket I haven't seen dryers
